Coolant smell is slowly becoming annoying

Figure I should give some closure, unfortunately I can’t, over 2 months in, just got my truck back after 35+ coolant flushes. Coolant tank was slightly dirty when I left the dealership, and black when I got home ~30 miles

So they basically still have an oil cooler leaking into the coolant system?

Maybe you need to start talking about a buyback. Nobody should have to put up with that nonsense.

So I guess they just tried to flush the system instead of replacing all the hoses, radiator, ect? In that video it mentioned everything had to be replaced. I would think once a bunch of oil gets in the coolant system. Be pretty hard to get it all out.

I will post the complete breakdown of parts and labor, the dealership was still documenting it when I left. I can’t imagine what it would cost out of warranty, but I would have re-powered and been done with it in 2 weeks, if it was up to me.

They replaced everything, and another GM bulletin came in during the process.

Like AXE stated, buy back or just do the right thing and give you a new vehicle. Shame on GM if they are dictating what the shop can or can’t do since the can is not fixing your vehicle. Customer service is long gone unfortunately.

GM now has some warranty Nazis that have to approve claims before work can proceed. I've had that come up on a few trim items, of all things. They have to send in pictures and video, so some turd behind a desk can decide if it's covered. I'm not sure who's processing that in Detroit, but I doubt they've turned a wrench in their lives.

I was told I have to bring my truck back after second time for my tonneau cover seams separating. Now they need more "video". Even though the dealer has the new tonneau cover ready to install.

My service advisor had told me he been in the phone with GM warranty for 90 minutes at a time to get coverage for his customers.

They managed to get a new radiator(not part of GM bulletin), but heater core was not included. I can only assume some of the oil is still coming from there.
No doubt. Hopefully GM uses some of that oil, my ass is getting sore. Coolant bottle after 100 miles

Accountants and actuaries run the show, I am an electrical engineer, and I deal with them day in and day out. Guaranteed the engineers, associated with any of this, are wearing “I told you so” shirts. The dealership has been honest and to the point, and I completely respect them. Their sister location across the state line, and 20 minutes closer to me, can’t even rotate tires correctly. Won’t name names, but anyone on the Maryland/Delaware border will get it. Lewes Delaware location=night and day better

GM's long term solution to this is going to be to spec out some black coolant from ChiNa or make the reservoirs black.
If I get royalties….and don’t have to sign my conscience away….. Is what it is. Not sure if my clients will recognize me anymore. 6’ 1” getting out of a Buick Encore, in remote locations, for the past 2 Months. Our children think it is hilarious

LMFAO........about 13 years ago my ol' man used to drive a Chevy Lumina to the farm and some job sites even though he had two trucks........he had the trunk and back seat full of tools.......he called it his "Tool Wagon". Some guy from Nigeria at the job site kept asking him if he could buy it. So he eventually sold it to him for $1500 more than he paid. We still laugh about that.

Love that, hope the little ones laugh about my “genius”. Being the youngest, I was babysat by my cousins and uncles who worked for GM in Wilmington, DE, and they couldn’t borrow a non-GM vehicle to go to work. It would probably be in the Delaware Bay when they got off. I also had a Lumina loner back in 99, while my favorite 97 Suburban(aka The Beast), was in the shop. Rear wheel drive made the Lumina tolerable.

Don’t give their accountants any ideas, guarantee they spitballed that option for another $5k, and then high-fived each other until it got weird….finally they figured out how to put it into a service plan with automatic renewal. Who do you trust anymore?

I am pretty conscious of the nonsense that is happening, definitely not throwing anyone under a bus, but my service department has done their due diligence. I did not purchase this truck from them, but they have gone above and beyond.

I got a good service advisor too and that helps. I think he's as frustrated with GM as anyone. He told me he has upwards of 20-30 vehicles he's tracking daily. Many waiting on GM or parts. He said a healthy number is 12-15 per advisor. I can tell he's flustered when I get there. Hardly any time to chat.

I see the Ford CEO has implemented a new bonus program that relies more heavily on quality control. He said they've lost their as asses on warranty repairs......no shit, and customers don't want it either.
