Average mileage Calculations

Just like some of the Harley forums I’m part of, mileage calculations can be all over the place. I didn’t buy my Harley’s or this truck for their fuel mileage. To me I enjoy the heck out of this truck. I look at mileage as smiles per miles.

Saying that, I still track fuel mileage on all my vehicles, well, except my wife’s Jeep. I use the Fuely app. Surprisingly, I’m getting what the window sticker stated (ok a 10th of a mile short)😁

That's smart. You don't want to flex that converter. I'm not sure how much torque that Allison will handle, even with a tune. I know they are pretty tough though.
Yeah, the Duramax Tuner says the +135 is only to be used with a built tranny. The +110 is incredibly powerful and will spin those heavy Toyo MTs, so I think that's about all she can handle the way I'm set up. I find myself driving a lot more aggressive on that tune, so I dial it back.

Kinda having the same problem with the ZR2 using the paddle shifter. This truck spools up 0 to 60 pretty damn fast, even with my bigger heavier tires.

Fun to do occasionally, but expensive on insurance and parts in the long run.......still learning life lessons at 53.......yelling at my kids not to do stupid shit......LOL.

Around here diesel and premium are about the same price, so it doesn't affect me much. I paid $4.21 the other day for 91, and I'm pretty sure it's the most watered down fuel I've ever bought.

I work in oil and gas development and invest heavily in it, so not bothered by these prices, I'm busier than ever......probably the only group not complaining about $5 diesel......that being said, I don't like it for the overall economy because it isn't sustainable.

That's what I paid at Costco for premium last week. About a month back, I was paying $ 3.50 per gallon. So the cost jump quite a bit in a month. Gas is like groceries, it's different every month but we got to have it. I like the power this 6.2 liter has as well.

I agree. I like the power and I wish it had a 3.50 or 3.73 gear ratio. When I was changing oil last week, I noticed that there is plenty of room for a 35 gallon fuel tank! That would have been nice to have. I think the smaller tank sometimes makes the mileage seem worse due to more frequent fill ups.
I wish we could have optioned for a 35 gallon tank, for sure.

It seems like at least a 30 gallon tank would have been nice for this thirsty bastard. I'm fueling up and my DIC says less than 300 miles left......WTF!

93 is running around $3.68 now here
Arizona is one of the only states in the union without a refinery, so its always a little high due transportation costs to pipe it in from California and Texas. Also we have different blends in some areas to meet air quality standards that drives up cost.

I'm at 2,200 miles on mine and I live on an island (Honolulu) coastal runs and cross Island (50 mile) runs I'm seeing 17-18. I was excited once and saw 19.5, haha. Short town runs as low as 13-14. But overall I see on the 450 setting 15-16 average. Hard part is as much as I love the Borla exhaust I hade installed I try to be humble and save gas.

I love Hawaii! I wish I was there with you! I'd trade you a tank of gas for some fresh tuna poke and a coconut hiwa beer from Maui Brewing Company!

Did a run from Phoenix to Vegas today. Flat to rollling terrain and then about 50 miles of pretty much up and down with several hundred feet of terrain differential. It did pretty well at 15.5 mpg running 75 mph when I could. Hit a couple towns and some traffic and had to dial her back to 50 to 65, which seems to hit the average pretty hard.

Then I hit some strong wind 40 miles south of Vegas and everything went to hell and it started tp drop.

That's about what I get on average as well. I got up to 18 on the highway, but I normally get 15-16 running around town.

Here's the final numbers on this recent trip. Hit some wind again on the way home. Not too bad for terrain, wind, and about 50 miles of city.

Also, my lifetime average came up to a respectable level.

I just picked up a '23 ZR2 and seem to be in the 14-16 range on normal suburban/rural driving. Though not sure about accuracy, I did hit a best of 24mpg in 50 miles when babying it.

Around town is same as most of you. Max being 17, avg closer to 13-14. Best highway over 50miles is 20.1 holding about 80mph

My best 50 was 22.7 shortly after I bought it. Mostly 2 lane roads around 55. My daily drive is a mix of 55-60mph driving and stop and go. Average about 14.5. Taking a little longer trip next month , Interested to see what that mileage looks like

0 highway miles, all suburbia driving. Roads ranging from 25 to 45-50.
