Steering stabilizer

Understood. Question...even though I don't haul or tow, do you think this is a good thing to add to my truck? Will it help when just doing suburban and highway driving and will I notice a difference or would this be a waste of $200?
Basically , they help control bump steer. IFS systems don't exhibit much bump steer. Probably won't do much for you IMO. I've run them quite a lot on straight axle vehicles, especially Jeep's. They help a lot on those vehicles as you are stuck with a given castor. Unless you want to grind the welds off the "C"'s and turn them back 4 - 6 degrees. I'm sure other folks will have different opinion's.

Thanks Scuba. I have no issues spending $200 if it will actually do something noticeable. May just wait for Black Friday and see how cheap they get and if I feel like doing it. I appreciate your insight my friend!

Yeah, I've never seen a benefit unless you have really poor geometry, a huge lift and 40s, or failing parts.

Thanks...sounds like a hard pass and invest that $200 into something that will make me smile...like a Banks Derringer :D

Did you level that thing yet? How much rake is there front to back?

I have been using the SS for many years. It is noticeable on the rough paved roads especially if you are running heavier tires and even slightly larger in the case of this truck like I do. On the rough caliche roads it reduces steering wheel vibration and helps with vehicle control, especially on rough terrain. One of the biggest things it offers for my driving is it helps keep steering components extend their lifespan which include alignments.

Since I don’t go off road except for the beach and I only put about 15K on these trucks in 2 years, lifespan isn’t a concern. Think this mod is best to pass on and invest somewhere else. Thanks guys!

SG, you can always have your friends at the dealership add in a couple degrees of positive castor if you want more straight line stability. It will also center quicker coming out of a turn. Pretty easy to do with an IFS front end. You likely don't need any of this though.
 
If you want to extend the life of your pitman and idler arm on the IFS, then this Cognito brace kit is the way to go. Again, most of the benefit will be from guys with lifted trucks and big tires. You can see this in 8ball_99 original pictures.

Yes I did both. I did the braces more to eliminate any play vs longevity. I did the stabilizer to stiffen up the steering and eliminate any bumpsteer. Worked for me 🤷

Well I finally got my drivers seat comfortable so I will be keeping the truck! I wound up buying seats out of a 2023 Cadillac Escalade and took them apart! I used the upper and lower foam cushions from the Cadillac seats and swapped in the 4 way lumbar as well as the wire mesh seat backs from them to my original seats. My upholsterer had to modify the seat covers and carve some foam. My bolsters aren't as steep as factory so it relieved the pressure from my extreme rib hump on my back! No one can look at them and tell they were touched! So now it's time for some "personal" touches and upgrades to get her a little more "robust"..lol Now back to the original topic!!

My Cognito shock extensions, steering braces and Cognito PISK steering stabilizer bracket with Rancho SS will be here Friday. I have had the cognito braces on every GM 2500 I have purchased since 2004. It's funny that all my 2500 DMaxes came with steering stabilizers from the factory until the 2016 LML 3500! The SS's along with the Cognito braces are definitely noticeable when pulling my boat over rutted roads on the interstate or when passing/getting passed by semis. So far, the best upgrade (besides the seats) I have done for drivability has been removing the POS rock slinging Good Year MT's and installing the Toyo ATIII's 325/65 which is 13" wide and looks beefy as hell. They handle and ride so much better!

Post a picture of those AT3s. I was thinking about doing them. When I test mounted a Toyo MT 38x13.5, I didn't like the minimal clearance from the a-arms, so I didn't do them.

I added one other component that has made a huge difference! Took care of my "sag" and eliminated my wheel hop in loose sand!

Wouldn't those be over an inch shorter then the factory tires? LT305/70R18= 34.8 vs 325/60R18= 33.3. I guess .7 wider though. What made you go down a size? Seems like everyone tries to stuff the biggest ones in they can, lol.

My bad…it was dark and my eyes are bad..lol These tires are 325/65 and actually look taller standing side by side with the factory GY MT while mounted on rims.

These also have a higher load and speed rating. They don’t hold and throw rocks for miles and they don’t sway when loaded!

Anyone running the Kryptonite/Bilstein? Unless this is different, the 5100 stabilizers are Monotubes and exert pressure. Depending on angle setup, it's been enough to cause a small drift on 37s in our Jeep, although the constant pressure does seem to keep everything "tight".

Before I switched to hydraulic assist on my wife’s Jeep we had the Bilstein and experienced the “drift”. I hated it. I have run the Rancho SS’s for years and they just seem to work better…IMHO.

Too bad a thru-shaft won't work in this application. I've got a Fox TS sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I gotcha, I like them. They look really good on the truck. When you said the size it just surprised me. They didn't look smaller in the wheel wells. I have no want for bigger tires, but I'm not sure the truck would look right with 33s lol.
