My sales guy is hitting me up everyday telling me to get on star set up. We tried to do it when I picked up the truck last week but On Star was to busy. I think he mentioned that they need a credit card number even I don't want to use the system, which I don't. So I don't understand the pressure to set On Star up and give them a cc when I don't even want to use it.

Not mandatory

only do it if you want the aliens to be able to collaborate with the dark government to be able to spy on you and control your vehicle. its also been noted that it can act as a portal when chained with 4 other vehicle to allow cthulhu into our reality, but thats a lower risk since its only when he wants a frappuccino on ice. which everyone knows only happens on Tuesday nights when the unicorns get constipated and cant fart rainbows on demand.

so in short, not mandatory.

Just as a certain portion of his pay is dependent on good survey scores, part of his pay is dependent on you taking the On-star trial. Most sales guys (the good ones) drag you out to a part of the lot where management can't hear them and tell you to sign up and when they ask you for a credit card , tell the sign-up agent you don't wish to provide one at this time. They'll sign you up, 30 days will roll by, and they will cancel it. Same with the app. The app sucks (had tire pressure readings in the thousands before), but you do want to sign up for MyChevy because you get points for your purchase... Enough for about a $120 purchase of branded crappola.

Totally agree on all counts. I signed up and got all kinds of discounts on my tonneau cover and my sub. That part is great.

I like the app. I use it to remote start when I'm farther away than where the keyfob can reach. The info displayed is useful.

I also like that I can loose my shit ahead of time with a flat tire notification rather then when I jump in, turn it on and loose my shit then.

Take what's free and cancel when you start getting charged.

Some ZR2s come with a 3 year remote access plan free. This allows you to use the MyChevrolet app for 3 years for free. You can check your window sticker under “Connectivity & Technology” to see if it is included. On my 2024 it was included.

👽👆 THATS TRUE!!!

🤣

I wouldn’t set it up personally. Even for free I don’t like all the stuff I’m reading about GM/Google selling data. People are getting dinged on their insurance. The only thing I use on the connected services is remote start but I never end up using it because my remote works from anywhere in my house all the way out to my truck.

It's part of the salespersons pay, it costs you 10 minutes or less, just help them out and do it. You get app access on new units for 8 years and enrolling in the rewards portion gives you points just for purchasing the vehicle, it's literally free money for you (I got $145). You can use the points for parts, or service. You DO NOT have to give the OnStar rep your credit card info, it literally just extends the trial period an additional 60 days from the initial 30 day trial. With app access you can track the vehicle, schedule service, buy accessories, and have remote functions for the vehicle.
