Everyone I need some solid advice here! Decided to pull the trigger on a Silverado ZR2 but I have a dilemma.

The dealership has a 2024 on the lot exactly how I want spec’d for an additional 4K off (10k total discount) but it does not have the multiFlex Tailgate.

I could get a 2025 exactly the same but with the multiFlex and pay 4K more than the 2024 (6k discount).

I really wanted the multiFlex tailgate but not sure it’s worth 4K lol. I looked into possibly installing a used one in the future but seems like a head ache from the YouTube video and forums I looked into. Plus it might end up being pretty pricing when all is said and done.

So my question is what route do you all think I should take? Those who have the multi gate is it really a game changer? I’m still a young buck so I figure hoping in and out isn’t much of an issue but would love to get some insight!

I appreciate the input!

I like my multiflex tailgate, especially on the 2500HD cause it makes bed access easier. Also been helpful on a couple of loads with long materials in the back so I could leave the tailgate up, multiflex down, but flip the ledge up to keep materials from sliding rearward.

The one disadvantage I would say is that it collects a lot of dust and when washing it, dust will continue to run out. Especially if you run it through a car wash. If you habd wash and undo it, you can get it clean.

I'd probably always get one now, but it's just a matter of how much you'll be in the bed and what your hauling.

Thanks For the Input Axe! I definitely wanted it because of those features but in this particular situation I’m paying a $4k premium for it lol. That’s my ceramic coat and PPF lol.

It seems like trying to add it after might be a huge headache. So maybe I just bite the bullet.

I liked my regular tailgate because I use it a lot and it had the power up where the multiflex does not due to the weight.
When I got the multiflex I wondered if it was worth it but used it twice in the first week.
You're not just paying $4k for the multiflex but also for a 1 year newer truck
I would go for the 2025

I really like mine. I thought it was something I would never use but I was wrong. You can use it as a step, a stand up desk if you do any kind of field work, if you drop the upper part with the tailgate down it allows you to reach further into the bed and like Axe said, it keeps loads from sliding out of the bed. Just be careful that you never drop it with a hitch installed.

I appreciate the insight, I’ll probably just go 2025 then so I have all the bells and whistles available at this time.

On a side note the only benefit I could think of the 25 had vs the 24 would be resale value? But then I doubt the delta would be the 4K I saved. Should I factor in something else?

Good choice 👍
I had the same dilemma when I bought mine: discounted previous MY without multiflex, or less discounted next year with multi flex. I went cheap and wish I had the multi flex almost daily. Next time around I’ll spring for the multi flex.

Indeed dust will come out every time i hit the highway after the car wash, but love the multi-flex tailgate.

Thanks for sharing! This helps a lot. There’s hope for you though! I went deep down the rabbit hole. It’s seems with some light electrical (tapping into existing wires) people have be able to successfully add a fully functional multi flex to their trucks in case you wanted to explore that option!
