What have you done to your Silverado ZR2 this week? 🛠️

Today I changed the oil and filter on Big Blue. The truck is currently at 10,000 miles and this is its second oil change. The previous oil change was at 5,000 miles.
Each time I have changed it, the oil is very dark and has a gassey smell to it. But there is no metal in the oil.
Each oil change I put Mobil 1 0w-20 high mileage oil in it and a K&N HP-2012 oil filter.
If there is anything you guys would do differently please let me know.
Yeah, I wouldn't us High Mileage motor oil for a vehicle with less than 75k miles or at all. You should be using 0W20 Dexos approved oil.

Also if your concerned about contamination and wear you should be sending in an oil sample to a lab for analysis. You can see my thread on the oil sample for more information.

If you have contamination, it's time for warranty work at your dealer.

Why wouldn’t you use the K&N filter?
Over priced and the OEM filter is just fine as long as you do oil change intervals that make sense. I change my oil every 5K miles or 6 months regardless. Oil changes are cheap and there is zero reason to spend a ton on a filter when there are others that are very solid and cheaper. My 2 cents.

Except that you can get that filter for <$6 and I've never seen a Delco filter that cheap. I don't think anyone's going broke on the price of a filter fer crissakes!

Buy what you want. All I am saying is that, if you did pay the high price for a K&N, it's not worth the extra money and you are paying for marketing and the K&N branding and not necessarily buying a better filter.

By posting that link, I just saved everyone $2 filter over the AC Delco you can get at Walmart for $8. Buy a lottery ticket and you are set for life. What a Christmas!

Everything we buy has marketing and branding costs factored in. Whatever you bought today, you paid for that. I spent more on one tank of gas than I will for a 3 years worth of oil filters.

I use this tool to cut open my filters. I think i paid double this prior to Amazon days. It works really well.

HRepair 52-77750 Oil Filter Cutter, Oil Filter Cutter Cutting Tool, Fits 2 3/8" - 4 3/4" Filters https://a.co/d/4Ay5VQP

I changed all the chrome badges, replaced the lug nuts and center caps. Washed and waxed it now it's time to do something about the chrome flowtie and the horrible factory steps.

Nice, need to Line-X or wrap that lower fascia black. Myself and and a few others have threads showing this. @The_Q has a white truck done.

Before and after tint. Getting some new running boards on Thursday. Might have the rock rails for sale. Will update that when I get them swapped.

I didn't do this this week:) But I figured I'd post. 2024 ZR2 Bison 3.0 Duramax.

These mods have really helped the truck with throttle response, and keeping the Exhaust Gas temps low. The oil pan helps with draining the dirty oil which should not linger at the bottom of the pan after an oil change:)

By the way if anyone is looking for what I believe to be well engineered parts for any duramax, I believe PPE is a great company. Everything I have ordered from them fits absolutely perfect, and performs as advertised.

You mean you don't worship at the alter of Gale Banks? Blasphemy.... :ROFLMAO:

Tailpipe cover/extension. Most high performance $35 I ever spent on Amazon....I called Gale Banks, and he said this here sumbitch will make another 110ft/lbs of torque.

On a serious note: I used one of these before and the finish lasted the whole two years I had it on the truck, so I got another. Yes...It really was $35.
