Dash Light -- "Crash" Symbol Where The Car Distance Is Displayed

This is why I try to turn the crazy nanny stuff off where I can. Like lane assist. I dont need no assistance staying between the lines. Learned how to do that when I learned to color. First time I ever used adaptive cruise control and it automatically slowed down to a crawl on the interstate I was like WTF. Turned that off too.

Yeah, I've killed Gremlins like that in the past, but with all the crap I've read about the common problems with these trucks, I just figured it was FUBAR and would have to see the dealer. Glad y'all proved me wrong. (My F-150 never had these issues. ;) )

I know whatcha mean. I'm a pretty aggressive driver. In our daily commuter car (Hyundai Elantra Hybrid), I've had some close proximity high-speed, low-gap passes and the car's nearly made me wreck.

I've learned to be slightly less erratic so the car's safety systems doesn't kill
I've had it happen to me a few times at night on the open road when we did our South Dakota trip in 23 Coming up over a hill or around a corner it thinks the lights from the oncoming traffic is in my lane and slams on the brakes at 75 or 80.

It is a feature we can turn off I believe in the settings

My truck doesn't have adaptive cruise, but wish it did!

Our Elantra is almost as good as a Tesla when it comes to self driving.

In bumper to bumper traffic, I hit a button and sit back. The car will stay in its lane, go, stop, crawl, stop, go, and continue to stay in the lane. IMHO, that's freakin' AWESOME!

My wife's Hyundai Santa Fe Caligraphy edition does the exact same thing. She absolutely loves it.

I thought all Silverado ZR2 came with adaptive CC.....? Or is it only with the Tech package?
I would have thought mine was adaptive, since there's a button on the wheel that sets a distance.

However, I can run into someone (I think) with cruise on.

My Elantra won't get close to others cars and the pacing works great.

I thought I was getting some decent shit with this truck, but I've leaned differently.

Wasn't made aware of premium gas, shitty cruise, pay-to-use features...

Oh well. I'll chalk it up as a loss. It's fun to drive (but the tank's too small). Hopefully the motor won't blow up and further compound my complaints.

You either do not have it on (if the crash symbol is on it will not work) or your truck does not have the package, or it could be broken. I have 3 current GM vehicles that have it. In the past have had several GM vehicles that have had it and it works perfectly. Really nice on long trips or even in stop and go traffic.

Need to take it to the dealer.

Only with the package. This option is a deal breaker for me. Will not buy a truck without it. It was the only reason I bought a Ford Tremor F250 before this 2500 because GM did not offer it until 2021 on the HD trucks only the little ones.

Crash symbol is off.

  • There's a button on the steering wheel that has 3 distance options
  • Symbol is non-existent when no car in front of me
  • Green when car is ahead a good ways
  • Orange when I'm closer
  • Red when I'm on their ass
However, again, with cruise on, it pays ZERO attention to traffic ahead of me.

So -- do you think my truck is equipped with adaptive cruise?

Go into the infotainment system under settings, then vehicle and see if you can turn on adaptive cruise control

Seems to me, there's zero information for cruise in the infotainment system.

This page shows the "cheap" cruise control settings on the steering wheel. My steering wheel options are NOT this. They're like the one above, but with another button for gap adjustment.

Can you just pull your RPO codes and look it up? If you have it that would give you a definite answer

You have to hold down the cruise control on off button to change modes between regular cruise control and adaptive

No it doesn't! A lot of their software is sketchy AF. Sometimes shit doesn't work..........I've seen it. You don't know about that tho, cause you block all the good content so you can live in your bubble!

First press the on/off button, then press and hold the Adaptive Cruise button and the symbol next to your digital speed reading will change and you DIC will say "Adaptive Cruise Available ". Then set your cruise speed, and set your gap. (Sorry, its hard to write on my phone)

In the last picture, you can see that my Adaptive Cruise Control is "ON" and speed is set to "73mph" as shown by the symbol that is circled in red.

So, drove the truck today -- NO MATTER WHAT I DO, there's no "activation" of an adaptive cruise. If I hold down my cruise button, nothing happens. Doesn't matter if it's 5 seconds, or 30 seconds. When I let go,

Thanks for the detailed info.

This morning, I tried all this at 40, 50, 70... Nothing worked; no icon change and it'll surely attempt to run up another car's ass. Does it matter if I have Lane Keep Assist on or off? I tried all this with LKA off.

My steering wheel controls are just like that, minus I have an extra button for the heated steering wheel.
