AEV Launches Chevy Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD Snorkel Kit

Why can’t they come out with something useful? Maybe a larger tank so we all can have more range.
Guessing there is less margin in a tank than selling a box of blow molded plastic for $700.

Well, I say that, but they do sell a $400 plastic fuel "caddy" for the JL:

I see people in Arizona with them all the time. Mostly the Jeep and Toyota team. Unless they are trying to drive through flooded a underpass after a monsoon, I'm not sure what purpose they serve. I suppose am occasional river crossing, but they are few and far between.

The latest (made up) sales pitch/justification is that "they were originally developed for dusty conditions".

So were my Fruit of the Looms, but they ain't $700
You can upgrade those to mud ready:

It's actually roto molded plastic. Made from the same stuff kayaks are made from.

If it is not your thing, than don't buy it, but snorkels do have a purpose. It is a raised air intake to get cooler cleaner air. Same thing bulldozers and backhoes have to provide a longer service life for the air filters since they operate in dusty and dirty environments. The same thing you encounter when offroad.

Yep...we know that but thanks for sharing ;)

This is some real bullshit from a MFer that ain't ever driven a bulldozer or a backhoe or likely seen dust! But he understands some kayak construction.

Exactly lol. Talk about killing the resale value of your vehicle. Yes, am aware that very very few may actually have a possible need for this however, the vast majority sold will be for mall crawlers.

Do you come off angry to scare people into believing you?

Cross link polyethylene is used in a lot of things. A great example for strength is the construction of Kayaks. They tend to be pretty strong.

I have had a few jobs over the years. I have used heavy equipment. Tell me why a forklift needs a snorkel then.
