Well this sucks. 😡9k on the ODO and delaer service tech just called and they are assuming a total motor failure. He did not go into detail but said the tech dropped the oil pan and found metal debris everywhere. They arranged a rental/loaner and are currently in process with GM on course of action, lkely full motor replacement.

A week or so back I noted an odd noise coming from the engine bay. Sounded like a rattling noise on light exceleration that would go away after warm-up. It's been extremely cold lately so I didn't think much of it then went into reduced acceleration mode on the way home from work along with a check engine light. Parked it over the weekend and brought it to the dealer first thing. Went to limp mode again on they way to the dealer then wouldn't start after I parked it to speak with the service advisor.

Had it at the same dealer back in September for it's 1st oil change and everyhting was pretty great up until this happened. Purchased new in April '24, 100% stock. Obviously dissapointed and will update thread on progress.

Sorry to hear, definitely keep us all posted as you might be the first one reporting catastrophic 3.0 failure on this forum (unless I missed it). Hopefully they are able to get one in and swapped asap. Glad to hear they’ve got you a loaner as well.

Yep same happened to my 2022.5 LM2
Dealer said and I quote at 4k miles shinnies in the oil is normal but we should do an oil change. Lol . It was 3 quarts low I told them.
Lost the turbo 3 times...and at 8400 it was 3 quarts low again. I was going to lemon law the thing and the dealer agreed to work with me.
Lost 20 grand.. Gotta love it 😂🤣😭🤔

That sucks! What mileage did you get your first oil change? Just wondering how many miles it had been since. I've seen lots of posts about the 3.0 burning lots of oil. Especially the first few changes till its brokenin. Wonder with the cold if maybe it got low on oil with the rattle you heard the week before.

SGRACING you lost 20 grand working with the Dealer. Lemon Law you would have lost nothing except a little bit of time. Were you under a time constraint or just didn’t feel like fooling with it. I had to Lemon Law a 2015 Tahoe early build model change in Florida and received my money back and a discount on a new one.

Hind sight...

I have 6k on my 2024, and have an odd noise coming from mine, especially at startup. I live in Hilo HI so it never sees temps below 60 degrees or above 85. At 4k dealership replaced accessory drive belt and tensioner. Sound is back. I had the first oil change at 4k. Please listen to video. Any ideas?

Definitely sounds like something is loose and making contact while moving. Could be the belt slapping too, maybe that tensioner housing is loose or improperly torqued.

Update:

Cab has been removed and the [brand]new motor has been delivered and is currently being installed. Looks like a completely new motor including turbo and intercooler. Tech estimates completion by tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

They found no evidence for cause of failure. Oil levels were at expected levels so tech is assuming an internal manufacturing defect...only GM will know once it's sent back and torn apart. Obviously concerned what else might go wrong later down the road but I'm, at least, pleased the dealer service dept. was able to complete this work under 3 weeks.

nice humble brag!! :D mine's jealous, it's been stuck in sub-zero temps for the past month . . . along with me, with exception of a week in aruba.

Appreciate the update. Glad to hear they are taking care of you.
