2024 Colorado ZR2 internal engine damage at 2100 miles

Hello Everyone,
New here, looking for help, knowledge and information.
Yes, driving to the OBX from Ohio for the weekend my truck broke down in Virginia. Long story short its been over two weeks now and it's still at a Chevy Dealer in Virginia. All I know is that the #3 spark plugs electrode is smashed flat to the threads. Anyone had this happen? Should I get a new truck. My local dealership is no help. They won't give me a loaner, say they are all out. Chevy warranty people say they will ship the truck back to me in Ohio when it's fixed. What should I do? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, there's internal damage. Either the connecting rod or piston wrist pin failed sending that piston into the spark plug. That means the motor would have to be pulled and fixed or replaced. I would try to negotiate a new truck with the dealer in Virginia. Tell them you want full book and a discount on the new one and see where it heads. That's really piss poor that the purchasing dealer is so useless. Maybe call the GM of that dealer and tell him your pissed about how this had been handled.

Thanks for your reply. I have the Chevy warranty rep. Looking into a replacement. That was late Friday. Read some post on here about the 6.2 failures that shed some light. Thanks again

Could have also been a valve that dropped into the piston and smashed between the spark plug and piston. That might be an easier fix.

The mechanic that showed me the spark plug said he bore scoped it. No debree in the cylinder, but there is impact marks on top of the piston. So if it was a valve it has gone through the engine. I found a cylinder cut away of that engine online, and because of the dome in the head I see no way the piston came that far up to hit the spark plug. It looks to me the head would stop it.
