DEF consumption, if everything is working correctly, should be 2-3% of fuel used, so 2-3 gallons approximately for every 100 gallons of diesel burned... IF everything is working properly. What's the biggest failure point? Is it the actual dosing algorithm? NO. It is the NOX sensors before and after the DOC/SCR that is reading incorrect amounts of NOX removed, causing the system to inject more DEF, if the sensors get far enough off and it thinks it can't reduce NOX enough, it makes a determination that the DEF Quality (is) Poor, when likely it is not.
