Tailgates getting stolen

Looks like thieves are now after truck tail gates.

Is it that easy to remove a locked tailgate?

This has been happening for years. Haven't seen anything on our trucks. They would have to have the fob code to unlock, but if they have that I think they would just take the whole truck

I haven't heard anything about it on our trucks.. But I know when Ford first come out with their fancy tailgate they were getting stolen left and right. But honestly I just assume people will steal anything they can at any given time or place lol. My bed cover locks automatically with the truck. My hitch pin locks. I have several different size locking pins for trailer couplers, so I can lock any trailer to the truck. My wife watched me swap my hitch the other day and asked why the pin has a lock. She couldn't believe it when I told her people will steal hitches in a heart beat.

At the end of the day, Just lock up what you can, Run a dual camera dash cam, be mindful of where you park and keep good insurance. You can detour the average crack head. But a well informed thief will take what they want if they have the opportunity.

I plan on installing a kill switch in my truck. That's actually my main concern. Is being out of town and parking at a hotel or camping. Coming out to find the whole dang truck is gone. We stayed at a hotel right outside of Memphis TN next to a walmart the other night. I parked under a light and where I could see my truck from up in our hotel room, lol. I told my wife well if they set the alarm off, at least the train horn will wake me up and probably anyone else on this side of the building.
