Range Technology Beta Testing

It's becoming clear to me that I'm gonna have to install one of these in my ZR2 to see what happens. I've got a lifetime average over 12k miles of 12.1 mpg in my ZR2. I've gotten 26 mpg over 50 miles and I've gotten 5 mpg off road. Since it seems to help the Tahoe, we'll see if it can overcome the horrible aero package in the ZR2 and my driving habits.

With the dfm range installed was there a change in transmission shifts? In my 2017 there was a change for the worse. Anyone have issues?
Exactly the opposit based on most posts I've seen. If your truck runs good now, expect some enhancements. Might not be a huge change, but consensus seems positive thus far.

Took mine off for the software update and put it back on without issue. Software update is not anything noticable other than Android 12 with a few graphics changed. Never really had any issues after they replaced the radio 6-8 months ago when the original one took a crap. I think it's mainly so they can start doing OTAs again. Service rep at the dealership stated a lot of people were getting stuck at 99% on the updates or people would use the vehicle during the update after it specifically tells them not to and then it bricks the entire vehicle on the freeway

MPG after another 400 miles is up another .1 . yeah, I know, if it's not at least 5 MPG it doesn't matter.

It's clear now after a few months the Range improves MPG on my 6.2. I'm happy with it in every way.

I thought this was your ol lady's rig?

It is, but I drive it some too. I shouldn't care unless I'm the only driver?

I've built a successful ag business with a fleet of equipment, I care about and attend to everything I own. I don't expect you to get it.

I've farmed/ranched for 55 years, we've never had anyone work on our equipment for 115 years. I've got equipment from the 40s and 50s that would start right up with a battery charge. You're not as unique as you think you are, at least not in my world where everyone I know works on their stuff.

If you have newer equipment, you're having other people work on it because you do not possess the programing to interface with the computer. but I'm not sure WTF that has to do with anything.

I was told not to give a FF about my ZR2 because I'm not the only driver. since reading comprehension isn't a strong skill around here, I should explain that my reply was intended to say I do give a phuk.

I'm not sure why everything has to devolve to this on this forum. all I was saying is the Range chip actually has a positive effect on the MPG and the extended use has proven it , which I found interesting. my bad I guess.

Every manufacturer has gone to great lengths to make sure you can't work on your equipment. It's why John Deere is being sued and investigated for its practices.

It's also why we don't have a dipstick or drain plug on the transmission for these trucks. Fer crissakes, i got a brand new 2500HD rig that's designed for work and I have no idea if it even has transmission fluid in it, nor does it have an external filter. GM can fuck right off along with the commies at JD.

I think for the most part people agree with you on many things. You've shared some good information. I think the disagreement is primarily with the fact it's sometimes delivered as absolute. I agree with you, the Range module is a good product and Amsoil is as well. I just like to give people a little grief once in a while.

Absolutes and “you’re an idiot if you own a 3.0”…not considering any perspective or needs other than one could be part of the problem.

@AXE i think somebody pissed in @44sixpack Amsoil this morning. And they did away with the dipstick because the newer generation can’t find their ass with both hands in their back pockets much less check the oil or trans fluid levels.
I swear, I'm about to drop the pan on my wife's rig and I'm thinking of having a bung welded in, so I can do my changes more often. I suppose it would be a reason to deny warranty, so I might just put up with the stoopid process of taking everything apart.

Sorry, late to the game and didn’t read through all 20 pages.
It appears this only shuts off dfm and does not recalibrate for tires, throttle response, clear codes or anything like the pulsar, correct?
