Peak (2.25 lift height)

I'm thinking of going the same route, still deciding between retaining DSSV or switching to the summit coilover with billet UCA. Is there a reason to stay away from Peak's billet, as opposed to mix/matching with DK or Cognito? Does anyone know if the factory wheels can be used with a 35" tire for this setup? I don't like the look of aftermarket wheels.

With spacers the factory wheels should be fine. I don’t know of any aftermarket control arms that will fit with stock wheels and wider tires without a spacer.

Nothing wrong with peak billet arms other than not having bushings. I think the billet dirt king arms will be the best once they’re released.

The dssv are really good for a factory shock, not as good as aftermarket 2.5s but way better than the trail boss ranchos, but they’ll need to be replaced at around 50k miles. They don’t really need to be upgraded before then other than being able to sell them for a little value before they are worn out. It’s kind of a pay it all now now or pay some now and some later decision. Aftermarket shocks will also need to be rebuilt every 50k.

Peak's billet UCA look awesome, but having run a daily driver with heim joints instead of bushings I can tell you you'll eventually get tiered of squeaking and harness. Honestly, unless you're planning on some serious off-roading the billet UCA are over kill. Peak's uniball also requires regular maintenance to keep from squeaking too. I really wish that Peak would offer an UCA with ball joint too. I really like the Dirt King UCA. The Probearing SilentSpin bushings are great along with the heavy-duty Moog ball joints. You really can't go wrong with the Dirt Kings and Peak 2.25" lift.

Hi Guys,

I have been going round and round on this one too and would appreciate your view. My end goal is 17s and 35s (zero offset). Just bought the Peak 3/4" bumper spacers and need UCAs. Like the look of the Dirt King (tubular) discussed above but noticed on their website,

"The Dirt King upper control arms must be paired with aftermarket coilover shocks to lift the vehicle. The Dirt King arms offer an additional 1” of down travel compared to the stock upper control arms. These arms are compatible with Dirt King, King, Fox, Bilstein, ADS and Icon coilovers. Do not install these upper control arms with coil spacers paired with extended length aftermarket shocks."

So initially I was not planning a lift as my truck is already level, don't want to compromise down travel, had not planned to replace the multimatics until they need replacing. Are they saying that due to the increased down travel we need longer shocks? And more importantly how big of a problem is it going to be if I keep the OEM shocks?

Thanks
J

Before I bought the Dirt King UCAs, I sent an email to them asking about compatibility with the Peak 2.25” lift and the Multimatic shocks. Dirt King replied stating their tubular UCAs would work perfectly with this setup. One thing I’ll tell you that’s not mentioned in their UCA installation guide is the the removal of the service perch on both shock towers. To achieve the extra downward travel, those perches must be cut off. Cognito and Peak both have this in their instillation guides.
