Order at dealer to GM acceptance time

Well, I’ll say you’re in for a long wait. I ordered my 2024 2500 ZR2 from the local dealer here in eastern NC in August of 2023. They told me it could be upwards of 90 days… we were fine with that. Halloween cane and went, Thanksgiving came and went, and around Christmas I got fed up. I did some research, broadened my search and had to go all the way out to Tennessee, but there was a dealership there with about 5 or 6 HD ZR2s. Contacted them, worked out a way for one to get held for me and made the 7 1/2 hour trip to pick it up the first week of January 2024. There are dealerships with the truck you want, you may just need to find them. Waiting on that dealership to get the quota for that vehicle could take forever.

I posted that quite a while ago. Have had my truck for almost a year now. All in all I ordered it in December of 2023 and it came in first week of April 2024.

Dealer contacted me today and said my truck was built!!! They gave me the VIN and said its awaiting shipping arrangements from Flint. Expected dealership arrival is 3-10 thru 3-17. Timeline is as follows:

1-3-25 -Placed Order with Dealer.
1-10-25 -Order Picked up by GM.
2-6-25 -Order Selected and Scheduled for Production.
2-11-25 -Order Broadcast for Production.
2-21-25 -Order Produced and VIN is Available.

Nice! Much better timeline than they were doing a year ago. Once you get the VIN it’s basically a done deal. You may even get it sooner.

Well the Truck finally arrived on 3-11-25 for a little over 9 weeks of total time from initial order to dealer arrival... However I did not purchase the truck. They actually went up on the fees a little bit on our original numbers and wouldn't budge off MSRP even though every truck on the lot had a $1000 customer cash incentive. I was told at the time we ordered that we had to wait for the truck to arrive before we could negotiate the final price of the sale. I was shopping around while waiting for the truck to arrive and found several ZR2s with similar options as the one I ordered with anywhere between 5-10k off MSRP So I'm thinking I should get something similar on my deal, but when I presented to them the current deals that are out there they balked at the idea of matching any deal even with proof and told me they just couldn't come off the price any but they would throw in a 6 month maintenance plan...lol. I had a deal in place at another dealer, just in case this one did not work out, that gave me a great deal on the same truck with all the options I wanted and more... It's a Bison!
Will be picking it up next week!

I’m having that same problem but I’m also finding that dealers are adding theft deterrent or GPS locator systems. Problem is I don’t want those items, too much BS that puts parasitic drains on the battery. If they take them off it’s too late, the harness has already been tapped and compromised.

Yeah They were going to do that on the truck I ordered but I told them don't add anything. They add this "signature package" to all their vehicles and it jacks up the MSRP by like 5-6k! Anti-theft protection for like $1500 (Doesn't Onstar provide that for Free already!) 2 tinted windows to match factory tint $699!! (This is just highway Robbery!) and a ceramic job for like 4k!!! just BS!!!!
