Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum, just bought a new 2024 Silverado ZR2 Bison. Looking forward to reading through all your posts and learning how to take care of my truck! I’ll attach some pics.

Q: the truck didn’t come with the AEV rocker protection it should have. Dealer said they had issues getting them and gave me a $1195 credit (it’s on the actual sticker). They said they could get the AEV ones and I think I’ll do that cuz it’ll be under warranty, but are there other good options anyone knows about?

Haha thx for the help. Seems dumb probably, but knowing im missing those, I don't even want to take the rig off road for fear of damaging something :p😣

Fortunately no factory built vehicle will ever be taken off road without damaging something they sold as off road worthy. You’re probably better off having to find an aftermarket solution.

@B Hertz I'm sure youre right. Guess I'm wondering if anyone has experience w aftermarket rock sliders. I dont need a step but wouldn't be against it. But I don't want to hurt the ground clearance there.

Since this is an Introduction forum I’ll elaborate a little.
I’ll attach the sticker where you can see the credit for no rocker protector.
Otherwise my truck is a ZR2 Bison w the technology package.
I think the cameras are awesome, very impressed. The 15” display is really good. Apple CarPlay via Bluetooth is all I need. And I like the head-up display, even if some people think it’s dumb. The adaptive cruise seems to work even better than the Audi S6 I’m coming from (surprised),

it doesn’t get tricked by cars cutting across lanes in front of me, etc.

My wife drives a Suburban w the 3L Duramax and it’s just such a sweet engine that I needed it in my truck. Super happy with it. I drove a rental suburban w the 6.2L and I loved it too. That’s a great engine, but I wanted the Duramax in the end.

I love the HUD. This is my first vehicle that’s had it but my wife has a ‘22 Suburban Z71 that doesn’t have it and I am already hating driving it without it. I love the adaptive cruise control way more than my previous Honda. Toyota still has the best one I’ve used as far as closest following distance. Chevy’s leaves just enough room for someone in the lane over to try to fit into. I hate that. But I do love the follow to a stop and get back going from zero etc.

That sounds right. I don't like following so close on the adaptive cruise, i keep it at the medium one. Chicken I guess, lol.

I've only owned it for about 2 weeks but so far my only complaint is that the Bison rear bumper doesn't have the step insert thing on the corners. It's got the multi-flex tailgate to get in, but if you're hauling a load (I was hauling a couch) and you have the tailgate open with the flap thingie up, I still wanted to get into the bed and my 50 yo body would have liked the step. Don't worry, i didnt fall and break my hip and end up in a nursing home tho! lol

Nice truck, right color, right engine, good decision. They are so nice to give you $1,195 back on an item that would cost you $1,350 + Tax to purchase yourself, you can occasionally find a set here someone took off to replace with running boards/assist steps, and often at a real good price. I have a set for off roading but run an OEM set most of the time, at over 6'2" I don't need them but they help a little, and the wife definitely needs something to help her in. I would probably push the dealership to get a set ordered and to sell them, and possibly install them, for the $1,195 out the door. They are currently limited stock to the public but the dealer should be able to get them if they really wanted to. There are a number of steps, and some high clearance ones that would likely do a decent job of protecting the rockers, but I don't know of any bolt on rock sliders except OEM. Welcome to the forum!
IMHO/YMMV
