New Oil Viscosity Recommended

LMFAO.......I logged on to my Progressive account to get my VIN and run it through the recall checker and they have the recall listed for both my 1500 ZR2 and Tahoe...........no remedy..... fuckin clown show.

My 1500 is at the dealer getting a bunch of trim pieces fixed and the tonneau warranty confirmed. Also had the latest infotainment update. I'll see what my SA is going to say when I pick it up later today.

Reading through Service data, Making some assumptions here, as to how oil relates to crankshaft and connecting rod defects(which it doesn't :D)....it appears they are using P0016 (camshaft/crankshaft correlation code) as an indication of oil pressure problems. The only thing that makes sense is the VVT actuator is pretty dependent on oil pressure to do its business along with the magnet to control the plunger.

I too have the recall but it hasn't hit my GM app yet. Curious to see where this goes, but seems bandaid fix style to me.

There is no remedy yet because the dude in China hasn’t completed the order for 900,000 filler caps emboldened with 0W-40. The cap is the fix, not the oil. LMFAO
LMFAO......caps gonna cost $5 million......new TSB will call for a paint pen and a monkey to change filler cap labels while customer waits.

So will this fix lifter problems, main crank bearings spun, con rod bearings spun, pistons cracking at the wrist pin housing, misaligned con rods, valves dropping, etc? ..........cause that's the running list of items I've seen across the many sources I've seen or read.

I just want GM to restore my confidence in the brand. Most owners are well educated and can understand a detailed explanation but GM never seems to want to share that. I’m not sure the NHTSA will force their hand. It just doesn’t seem like GM cares about my future business. It’s my belief that GM hopes that the oil change will reduce the catastrophic failures but inside their closed door meetings I’m sure that the statisticians are predicting a continued smaller percentage of catastrophic failures due to design flaws, manufacturing issues, assembly mistakes, etc. This is not the aviation industry so there is a lot less accountability.
"This is not the aviation industry so there is a lot less accountability." I completely understand your position however, full disclosure and accountability ---- NOT going to happen. You can hue and cry all you want to; however, the commercial car industry is as cutthroat as it gets. Nothing is going to change bottom line so in a nutshell all makers that I have owned or own are the same MB, Porsche, Audi, Jeep/Ram/Dodge, BMW, GM, Ford, Lexus, Infiniti, Isuzu, and Mitsubishi. It is not going to change, and I have had buy backs from several including a MB AMG. So unfortunately, if you do not like it you can take your money elsewhere! That is what I always do. (y) GM could really care less despite the carefully crafted marketing as their will be someone from Ford taking your place for example.

It's so funny to me. I had a '15 Denali 1500 with a 6.2. Bought it new. Within 3 months it made a light ticking noise while idling. Dealer said they couldn't find an issue. It progressively got worse over a couple years. At 35k miles, CEL came on and it ran like ass. Brought it in for warranty and they tried to sell me $3k worth of injectors and plugs (not covered under warranty). I said no thanks. I hardly drove it for a year, but at some point CEL was blinking and it ran so much worse. I decided to change the injectors and plugs myself. After all new parts, no change. Still showed same misfire code.

At that point, I'm convinced it's internal so I take it to a dealer to trade when it was having a good day. CEL turned itself off (I didn't reset...) and it was stumbling at idle noticeably, but nowhere like normal. They test drive it, come back send it to the shop where the shop manager drives it. Salesman came back $1500 less than full trade value because the "oil pressure was low" and they think it needs a new oil pump. I made a big show about to make them feel like they won, then I accepted and got the he'll out with a brand new silverado. See ya!

I'm convinced this has been happening way longer than they wan to admit. First sign my 22 zr2 shows any problem, it's gone. Not gonna get stuck...

Here's what is listed in OnStar. Had to do two separate pictures to get the last sentence about bearing and rod failure.
