This past month I have been losing signal strength on the door handle/tailgate/ignition button from the key fob. It has gotten worse now and barely functions when I'm holding the key fob in my hand. Changed battery a couple weeks ago and it didn't help. Haven't tried my second key fob yet, but might dig it out and see if its the reciever or transmitter.

The rest of the functions on the key fob are normal and work a long way from the truck.

I assume if it’s the fob, there isn't much of a fix and you have to use another fob. But was wondering where the reciever is on the truck and how easy it is to replace. My warranty is up in a couple weeks.

It looks like there are 2 antennas in the console, one in the back bumper, and a module that is behind the quarter panel trim on the driver's side back door. I can PM you the Alldata on it if you want. There is one antenna on the bottom of the cupholder in the front console, and one behind the panel on the rear of the console. The antenna in the back bumper is behind the license plate.

Thank you! I knew about that one in the console. I think that is intended for low battery use so your not stranded. Good to know about the others.

I'll dig my other fob out and give it a test. If it also does the same thing I'm gonna run it into the dealer for warranty.

Well I checked my other fob and got the same results. In fact, as I was testing it, it seemed to get weaker and eventually the door button would not work at all. The ignition button did work, but the fob had to be close to center console.

I also tried the soft reboot of the system holding the end call button for 10 seconds to reset. But it didn't do anything. Maybe I'll pull the battery cable or at least check the OBD for codes.

I guess I will be bringing it into the dealer for one final warranty check.

Blew into the dealer today on my last day of warranty, no less! They had to give me two new key fobs, as they were not able to make the two originals work with the door button or tailgate button.

He said it was very rare to see two of them bad, but they see singles occasionally. In all my years of using them, I've never had a bad one. My boy is still using the one original one I started using on my 2015 Duramax going on year 13.

Also had them do the transmission fluid exchange and they didn't even charge me.

They did some other checks, software, battery, etc, out everything checked out. So no more bumper to bumper warranty for me. Only got 7 more years left on this motor warranty, so I drove home in L1-L3 smoking Raptors and Tundras left and right!
