Infotainment Audio Cuts In & Out 23 ZR2

Your Red Hat is showing!
I've actually never worn one and probably never will.

I grew up with a certain belief system forged by the four generations before me. It's directly benefitted me far beyond any desires I've ever had.

They built a magnificent country that the commies have always hated from afar. Now the commies are inside and destroying it from within.

The libtards are leading the way on the path destruction and they are aided and abetted by the RINOs. It's happening at a very brisk pace. The only way politicians get rich and stay in power is to sell us out and steal our way of life.

When the first wave hits, a red or blue hat won't save your asses. It'll all rest on you and the grace of God!

Good luck if you believe otherwise.

My 23's Infotainment system cuts in and out periodically, it's just a quick in/out but starting to get annoying. It actually rebooted on it's own one time. It impacts the phone, the radio, the sound of the blinkers, etc.

Anyone else have this issue? I'm going to take it in when I have time.

Thanks
Rick
I found a solution that worked for me. I have a 23’ ZR2 and was having the same issues. Volume would constantly get quiet for an about 15 seconds and then go loud again for about 45 seconds, then start the process over again. This would happen every time my phone was connected to CarPlay, wired or wireless, and it didn’t matter what I was listening to (radio, Spotify app, xm, CarPlay, etc.).
I tried the reset with the end call button, and that would temporarily fix the problem but it would come back again. I took it to the dealer and they did a usb update on the radio, and this still didn’t work. What I discovered by dumb luck is that when my phone is on vibrate, this doesn’t happen at all. I can listen to anything I want while connected to CarPlay, and as long as I kept my phone on vibrate, I no longer had any issues with the volume going through cycles of quiet and loud. But the second I take it off of vibrate, it starts up again. Not sure if this will work for everyone, but it works for me and will be my solution until GM fixes the actual problem. Hope this helps!

Did a bit of a test this weekend, results below. To be clear, the behavior I’m experiencing is like the stereo system mute button is hit for a split second or two randomly the first 5-10 minutes (on average 3-4 times) after startup and driving begins. After 10’ish minutes, zero problems. It’s a bit awkward if you are singing along…you go solo with no supporting background vocals or instruments 😅

It happened consistently in every scenario below…I could NOT find a scenario it didn’t do it.

- iPhone 14 connected via Bluetooth with CarPlay enabled listening to various music apps
- iPhone 14 connected via Bluetooth without CarPlay enabled listening to various music apps
- iPhone 14 connected via Bluetooth without CarPlay enabled listening FM radio
- iPhone 14 connected via Bluetooth with CarPlay enabled listening to FM radio
- NO phone connected listening to FM radio

I let my XM run out recently but I know it consistently occurred before the trial expired but I would have had a phone connected. The only scenario I couldn’t prove here is XM with no phone connected. I was able to see the behavior with no phone connected with FM radio so have to assume XM would be the same.

It would appear to be an infotainment hardware or software glitch as there may be another scenario to try here but that’s a pretty solid test and the behavior existed across the board.

I'll have to test this out next trip.

Now that would be a fun trip my friend!

I’m leaning towards this being more of a software problem than hardware and since our GM overlords sold us out to the Google Auto slave trade, we are at their mercy on when or even if anything is done about the issue. I’m personally curious to see if the new Tahoe has a similar problem as it’s now running a similar set up as we are. If it doesn’t than maybe there’s a chance that they can work on a backwards compatible update for us.

They announced they were going to stop the Google Auto going forward, cause the contract ended. I assumed that was starting for 25s, but not sure.

So what you’re saying is… Luck next time on hoping your new truck radio doesn’t…. Randomly at the exact moment you’re belting out your favorite song like you’re on……. Idol.

I just purchased a 2023 Zr2 and it is doing this very thing. Im assuming no one found a solution.

There is a service bulletin and it does fix some and some get better performance. I would go to your dealer and have them do the latest update. That'll help!

Mine goes from workiking fine to mediocre to poor and cycles again.
