I came out to a completely dead battery this morning any one else have this happen

This is most definitely a recall, but not the reason for a dead battery. This is while the truck is on and running at night with headlamps on. My truck was parked for a few days with the dead battery. I have a jumper pack just didn’t have it in my truck because why would I expect a 7 month old truck battery to die lol

Not the dealerships problem...batteries today are being manufactured like crap and it's happening to most everyone regardless of vehicle manufacturer. I just go and buy a top tier battery, install it myself, and call it a day. Look at Northstar/Odyssey batteries. The Northstar X2 can be found at www.batteriesplus.com. EnerSys makes both Northstar and Odyssey, they are the two most highly rated batteries on earth. They are used in most all BIG diesel rigs and most all data centers as back-up batteries during a power failure. Worth looking into IMPO. Oder on-line and save 10% and another 3% through Rakuten.

Do these hold up in normal driving? Heard maybe doing short trips was bad for them. What is considered short trips? Do you have to charge them or do anything different than with lead acid? Also seems like they are sensitive to over charging. What’s the chances of that in vehicles like the ZR2?

These are lead acid batteries, so I am unclear on your questions. You do not have to do anything different to these than any other battery. Short trips...long trips...makes no difference.

I thought these were the AGM batteries. Hear mixed reviews about those. Sorry for the confusion

AGM are lead acid batteries...just a different construction process. AGM batteries are FAR better than conventional lead acid batteries today.

Well the saga continues..
Went to use the truck and the battery was flat...
Awe. Darn thing! 6500 miles on it.
I disconnected the negative terminal and put a trickle charger on it and with out hooking it back up it goes flat all by itself. .😭😢🤔

Damn sure don’t make things like they used to. I had an 07 Tahoe that had the original battery in it til 2015. The Wrangler I traded in for this truck had its battery replaced after 14 months.

Absolutely---been using them for years now. The degradation curve of the AGM's is very linear unlike the regular acid "cell" type batteries. Yes they are more expensive however for me it is worth the peace of mind.

And Brand recommendation. Basically any brand but Mobile one...lol

I can't get 2 years out of a battery. Out here, part of the problem is it's so hot and combined with heat from motor, the water dries up and eventually they are cooked. Wish you could still add water/electrolyte easily.

I have had the best luck with X2 batteries from Batteries Plus. They are expensive and have a four year warranty, but I've gotten 5 years on most of them and I'm going on 7 for the ones in my boat hooked to my trolling motor.

Both the Odyssey and X2 are both the same battery and made by Northstar...there are no better batteries on the market, but you do pay a premium for them. Worth every penny IMPO.
I've contributed about $5k to X2 and maybe $1k to Odyssey over the last 15 years. When you outfit a diesel truck and especially a boat and camper it gets real spendy. Almost double the cost from 10 years ago now.

I run some remote telemetry system and water meters with X2 batteries on a solar maintainer. They survive some pretty extreme conditions from 50 below to 100+ F.

Not much of a pay off unless you keep them 3-4 years.
