Gm to stop selling 6.2 Ltr. trucks and suv's

That is a good point... GM and I certainly hope they do not put this into the final repair procedure -- oil test. GM even if they did do an oil test would give the nature of the failure another "possible" contributing factor to the failure and try to charge the customer for a portion or all of the repair based on what the analysis shows. As expensive as this recall is going to be you can rest assured it is all about $$$$'s no matter what the GM spokesperson says!

That being said GM would be very hard pressed and the bad press that followed would also cost them $$$$'s. Nothing that GM does with this monster will surprise me.
Right now my truck is running fine. But if something happens to the motor, I sure as hell don't wanna be charged for it just cause I put an additive in the oil. Just not gonna do it.

I'm just shy of 40k on the Z with no engine issues but my HC exploded at 7K ish with no warning. Got the engine swapped and it's been smooth sailing with 20k now on the new motor.

50/50 on the 23s

*note: This message will self destruct if I sell the HC

Was able to get some additional information today. Looks like the wait for the complete GM process on this including rentals to be provided will be Thursday. Cannot wait to see the detail.

It would be interesting to see what the actual failure rate is, I think it's less than 10%, but climbing.

Yeah it sure would. I highly doubt they will ever say publicly though.

There are dealerships here still listen the 6.2Ls for sell lol.

Bad news travels fast. There are 4 6.2L in our house hold and only 1 crapped out.

My dealer always takes care of so I wasn't worried when it happened.

The dealer in Utah that was closest to where it happened gave me flack right off the bat. I called my dealer, they made a call to GM and had a new engine approval within 24hrs

If they are selling the 25's those are ok to sell. Guess there are still a few 24's around but not many here. My dealer has 81 vehicles with a 6.2 engine in stock for the Tahoe and trucks. All are 2025's

I’ve had a coolant smell around the engine bay of my 2023 since 17k miles… tranny doesn’t always shift smoothly either. Any of that a prelude to this engine death?

Transmission problems are pretty well documented. The valve bodies have been bad and need to be replaced. Also a nightmare for downtime and and parts availability. Not sure it's gotten better in last.month, but a while back my service advisor said there was a big backlog for transmission parts.

Great. And I suppose no loaners while you wait?
I think that seems like dealer support if they have them. My dealer quit loaners a long time ago, but they send you to a rental car place and I suppose GM covers that. If it's just for a day or two they want you to take a Lyft ride.

One would think they were 25's but not sadly not. There are a couple who had some listed on Autotrader that have been removed for sell. However, a few 22s-24s that are used are still a go. These are the same dealerships I called and asked about the recall and they said.....what recall. LOL

NHSTA Report says estimated 3%
Thanks! Not sure I'd seen that before. Sounds like a reasonable estimate for now.

I suspect when you throw in the fuel pump control modules, the bad pistons, the transmission valve bodies, and lifter failures, it's probably a good bit higher. Each of these failures have caused risk of injury or life, they just haven't gotten the same attention.

So, how did we go from 877K vehicles recalled to 597K? Unless I am reading this wrong. It also says there are three different recall numbers. We know that 0001 looked to be one for the dealers. Most of us who have reported what we got was 0000. Not seen anyone mention 0002.

When my truck was at the dealer for bad injectors, they told me they didn't have a loaner for me. I raised hell right in the middle of the sales floor and I made them rent a vehicle from Hertz at GM's expense. The next day, Hertz Rentals delivered a 2024 Chevy Equinox to my house. No charge to me at all.

Not sure if it still does but at one time, didnt it say youd get a loaner or a rental while your vehicle is in for warranty repair.
