Trucks a 24 bought new in June. Changed oil at 970, 3,000, and just before our trip at 6,000. I also have the Range module. SW FL to OH. I really love this truck to travel with. Its very comfortable, cooler/fridge plugged in in the bed was nice to have. Loving the heated seats and steering wheel in the cold. The engine seems to be really comfortable at 85-90mph, closer to 90 if I'm honest. Coming through the hills of TN I bested the 18.5mpg best it said from the factory with an 18.9mpg. Never thought I'd see better than that 18.5 number. If it wasn't broke in before the trip it is now. Since the wife and I decided to add another pooch to the family this January we have committed to spending time on the road rather than in the sky for our annual trips to Northern MN in the spring and the fall. I will be swapping out the Good Years for something with a higher speed rating for the spring trip. My kids and grandkids will be the beneficiaries of my remaining Delta Skymiles to come visit ahh...uhm...gulp...Grandpa. That word.

Yep they do quite well on long road trips. I did a 3000 mile round trip and was very happy with performance and comfort. I think my average mpg was 16.5 ish, but I ran in some wind and some terrain.

I was a bit surprised at 18.9 but lots of coasting involved in those hills. I wish the trip monitors 1&2 kept track of average speeds. I’m contemplating getting a 2500 Duramax in 27 but I have zero need for one except the long distance trips. I’ll enjoy what I have for now. Happy New Year!

Whats your cooler setup?
I am running this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BP7997CQ from Amazon. It works great. I have used it on the boat with the 12v adapter and can confirm it keeps beer ice cold in the FL sun in July. It's also great in the back of the truck traveling or running errands after being at the grocery store. It will even keep frozen stuff frozen. The cooler has an app so you can control it from your phone while on the road. I have been considering buying one of these sliding things but hesitant about drilling into the bed to bolt it down. https://www.amazon.com/Rough-Countr...g=UTF8&ref_=pd_hp_d_atf_ci_mcx_mr_ca_hp_atf_d

just wondering, why a 2500 6.6 duramax for long distance trips? my son's doesn't get exceptional mileage. i've gotten 26 out of my 3.0 on the only longer trip i've had it on, and, i've had others with the 3.0 get upwards of 30 or 31 on long distance trips. plus, having ridden in both my son's 2500 and my 1500, there's absolutely zero comparison in ride comfortability.

There's never a reason to get a 2500HD diesel or gas unless your towing 7k+ on regular basis. They sit 7 feet off the ground, they have a ginormous from end, heavy tires/wheels with a large contact patch, have horrible aero with huge drag underneath, and they weigh 9000 lbs. They get worse mileage than ever, but I can tow 13k up a 6% grade a 65mph at 2000 rpms and never break a sweat and look good doing it!

I’d love to see 20+ on long distance trips on my zr2 3.0. I’m at 23k miles and typically don’t watch speed in full transparency. I get there are a lot of factors but upward of 30 in zr2 form simply isnt realistic at all. I love the truck but unless you are REALLY watching speed, unladen, and not dealing with any wind, it’s simply not going to exceed expectations for folks potentially doing research.
