Emission Delete Legal?

Patel and Bondi have started to neuter the ATF. I want to buy a suppressor and go home with it same day. It’s been a long time coming. Lots of alphabet boys gonna be jobless. And we’re only just a smidge more than a month into the “reset”. Good times ahead.

I want an integrated barrel suppressor for my 10/22. I'm holding off to see what happens. I've built a couple and bought a couple. I want that database destroyed too.

Statute of limitations on CAA knowing violations is 5 years just FYI.

Since transportation emissions are included in all revisions of the CAA the overturning of Chevron really doesn't apply here. Be careful what "advice" you put on the Internet because it will live forever, unlike the current administration.

If it’s on the internet it has to be true 😂

DFM bye bye! Stellantis sources say it'll stop 8% of dealer buy backs.

As usual politicians like to say they're doing something when in reality not doing anything at all. As of now they're still debating whether EPA waiving preemption for California is a "rule" or not. GAO says no, so it'll probably wind up on the appellate ladder.

That doesn't even get into the CRA's exemption for "particular acceptability."

TLDR: Nothing has changed and nothing will change in the near future. Check back in March 2026.

Fuck you bot, we'll be puking out soot all over your dumbass before Independence Day!

One more from TK. Interesting that he's saying you should be dumping your Ram and GM rigs before they announce new trucks without added emissions equipment. Not sure I read it this way, but could be an issue with resale!

I heard the tailpipe emissions and electric mandates are going away. If the use of DEF goes away that will make my decision to go to a 2500 diesel a done deal.

We'll see. I got a message from Duramax Tuner a couple weeks ago that said they had tuning for the 2024 L5P, but when I called to order it they said it was sent out mistakenly and there is still no tuning available.

I asked him if these potential legal changes will help accelerate the process and he said probably not. GM has these things locked down and considers them IP that only they should control even though you own the truck. He said it would probably take a long while for them to implement changes on these trucks. I'm not sure we see anything very fast and the manufacturers have to embrace implementing the changes. Maybe they will, but they haven't said they would.

Mary Barra continues to talk about expanding EVs, so she and the board seem to think that's the path forward.

Back in my day you could buy “off road use only” parts. Really only need that clause to come back and the world would be fine.

I don’t see AFM/DFM going away as it’s a marketing point for trucks to compete with MPG. Just like the ridiculous towing numbers they put out.

I’m greatful that most of my stuff was played with before they banned it all. Something about the smell of unburned gasoline.

Tailpipe and evaporative emissions are controlled via the Clean Air Act so no they aren't going anywhere. Even if the Executive branch could gut itself to the point of non-viability for enforcement, the manufacturers are still liable to follow the law. There's no support in the Congress to roll back any of those laws, as they too don't want to deal with the sight and smell of dirty vehicles. EPA may move the standards up and down over the years but the overall trajectory isn't really changing.

DEF has played a big role in cleaning up local air quality in built up areas in the last 20-ish years. Don't expect that to go anywhere either. No one wants to smell nasty diesel exhaust. The so-called EV Mandate really is just a hybrid mandate. OEMs aren't going to toss that out for three years of the current administration. GM has very cool hybrids in the full-size pipeline coming for 2027 and 2028 that would allow them to meet the g/km GHG rules.
