You know how when there's a car in front of you, there's a little picture of a green car? Get closer and it is orange?

Well, mine's been stuck on a "crash" looking picture for a day.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure where all the front sensors are, but looking at the front of the truck, it's clean & surely hasn't hit anything.

Thanks for any insight!

First thing i always do is a reboot of the system by holding the phone hangup button (mute) for 20 seconds. Also check your forward and reverse collision sensor settings...if you dont have those set at full alert the icon will change over to a collision warning signal. Mine did the same thing about a month ago...i dont even remember turning them off but after turning them back on the system went back to normal.

Yep!

I think these sensors may use cameras, but some are under the "bumper covers" too. Can't even see them.

So, I did the reset, and the infotainment display cycled. Dash light crash indicator didn't change.

I went to the vehicle settings, and I'll be damned if I can figure out what to change to make this light go back to the green car symbol when a car's in front of me.

All the crash detection options are set to "on" or "on with alert" or whatever.

Should I cycle through those options???

I would say a scan tool needs to be hooked up to check the forward collision modules for codes. Otherwise...Battery disconnect and see if it goes away once reconnected. A history code will remain on what caused it to fault if it does clear the light.

My 2022 did that once. I took it to the dealer after I did the system reset and pulled the negative on the battery with no luck. They told me it was one of the settings.

Hmm, then I spose I would cycle them all off and then all back on seeing if anything changes. Mine has only displayed that icon when the camera is blocked or the truck has a loss of traction in a sideways motion.

I found it on accident in my truck today. If you set this to anything but Alert and Brake, the crash icon showed up for me and wouldn't go away.

I had it happen and never touched the settings, eventually after a few days it went away with no intervention.

But it'll definitely come on if you shut off the safety features.

I've tried changing all the setting, and the light is still on. I made sure my grill camera and mirror camera were nice 'n clear, and still no luck.

I've also hit the button on the console for "lane keep assist" and it flashes on the dash that it's unavailable.

I've done the mute button reset; nada.

I'll pull the cable tonight. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll reluctantly try to find some time to take it to the dealer.

The crash symbol indicates that the system is not working. Mine is still there waiting on a harness from GM. One of the cables on the Colorado Bison is broken where it plugs into the module. Stereo installers did it. You should be getting a message on the DIC when the vehicle boots up after a few seconds of starting that the collision system is not functioning.

When mine went down the GM tech when they had it hooked up to the laptop found it instantly.

Interesting...

I did have an amp installed by an independent shop. However, the system functioned for weeks after the install, so I don't think that would have been the problem.

I also had some lighting jumpers installed, but the system still worked after the install.

Odd.

Pull your negative battery cable 10 or 15 minutes. Try that I bet it'll work.
