Catch can results

Condensation is not oil. catch cans, the solution in search of a problem.
The CC catches oil...however, in the cold months, it also catches condensation and the can fills up more quickly due to the additional water captured. They are a great solution to all DI engines.

GM changed the PCV system a couple years ago and it's no longer an issue. if your engine is using enough oil to be a problem you have bigger problems, the only oil you'll burn is the actual oil you lose out of the crankcase minus any leaks. it's so miniscule it's laughable and synthetic oil makes it even less of an issue for carbon.

The engineers aren't too dumb to add one, and GM isn't too cheap to add one, it's not there because you don't need it. I'm about due for an oil change and it hasn't used enough oil to even be detectable. if people have fun with add ons like this that's fine, but nobody should feel like they need one.

The point is we don’t want oil being recirculated back through with the air intake no matter how much or how little. With direct injection the valves are no longer washed with fuel. It’s up to each individual how they want to handle it. @44sixpack . You should read the book by Bob Lutz titled Car Guys versus Bean Counters. It will change your mind about how all car companies will not add a piece or take one off to save a dollar.

Nobody is saying the oil is beneficial, it's just that it doesn't amount to enough to cause any harm. and I didn't say it hurts anything if it makes you feel better.

I said it's a joke and nobody should run and get one just because they read on the internet you have to. carpetbaggers have been selling magical elixirs for a thousand years, buy it if you believe.

This has been beat to death on my TRX forum too, supposedly oil vapor will cause the blower to explode or some stupid story. an SRT engineer debunked it but of course he's an idiot and the snake oil salesman knows best.

Whatever, I just find it comical.

Like I said, it’s up to each one to make their decision. I personally don’t want 1-2 ounces of oil and condensate going back through my engine every 3k-5k miles.
