AEV Launches Chevy Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD Snorkel Kit

Do you come off angry to scare people into believing you?

Cross link polyethylene is used in a lot of things. A great example for strength is the construction of Kayaks. They tend to be pretty strong.

I have had a few jobs over the years. I have used heavy equipment. Tell me why a forklift needs a snorkel then.
Don't mistake angry for me calling out your bullshit.

There isn't a piece of heavy equipment made that uses a snorkel as standard equipment. The intakes are up high cause the motors are several feet off the ground. They aren't going to avoid any dust, because they are designed to produce dust, a lot of it. They use multi component air filtration systems to clean the air before combustion. Most likely there are at least two filters (e.g., an outer and inner filter) on each intake and there may be more than one intake. I've changed and cleaned plenty of them. Sometimes the outer filters are so good, the inner filters hardly looked used. Filters can cost hundreds of dollars for this reason.

If you think that snorkel gets you cleaner air when your driving down a dusty road following two other rigs, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

I live in a desert and drive in dusty conditions all the time. I'm impressed how clean my filters are when I inspect, clean, or change them. We don't have a dust problem with modem filtration.

Do they add snorkels as optional equipment? Are those intakes even higher than the engine?

Not the smart ones, they run multiple filtration systems cause dust rises and you ain't putting a 20 foot mast on top of your D11 for a percieved benefit. They are mounted top of motor just a few feet behind the top of the blade cause it works just fine.

For...science?

Exactly lol. Talk about killing the resale value of your vehicle. Yes, am aware that very very few may actually have a possible need for this however, the vast majority sold will be for mall crawlers.
Now that you mention it the snorkel may come in handy for those with mall crawlers when it rains and the storm water grates backup.

I was at a stop light near a construction site. Now I'm combing through everyone's equipment trying to find a snorkel. So far I've struck out!
