Dealers are only supposed to service on the lot vehicles with recall 0001 it states it multiple times in the document.

does anyone in the "wild" have recall 0001 for their actual vehicle?

I have yet to see anything come out on that recall...though I'm sure it will be the same procedure.

I'll change my oil to 0w40 at my next interval if there's no "remedy" by then but...I'm no more worried then I was prior to this BS.

Does irritate me that I bought 3 cases of 0w20 though a month ago though.

You are correct about who they service per the document. My point was it will be no different for all of us.

I’m not any more or less worried than I was before either. I have the 0000 recall for mine. Granted, it too technically says inspect, repair/replace or change the oil. Even though it says no remedy on it lol.

I went for two reasons. First, I need an oil change and figured why pay for it. Second, I had a couple of mysterious chimes and quickly flashing messages happen on a recent road trip so my wife is very concerned and this recall made things worse as we have another trip planned in a couple months so she wants some piece of mind. Haven’t told her yet about the dealer visit but I’m sure she’s not going to be happy.

You should get one of these OBD II scanners and carry it in your truck. There are plenty of software and mechanical issues with these trucks. This will help you figure out what's happening and also may allow you to clear a code and get back on the road.

Lots of pre loaded PIDs in the software that will show you tons of readings and guages. I did not find the oil pressure yesterday, may need to download a custom PID. It's less about the scanner and more about the software/app you use.

I'll have to do a little more research. I've done it in the past for my Duramax injector balance rates.

I have just gotten back from picking up one of my vehicles getting PDR done on a very small door ding on my wife's new Tahoe. Have some folks and I am not going to mention names because that is the way people do not give you any more information lol.

Bottom line after a fairly long discussion is there is no fix identified by GM if your vehicle has this DTC code present. Some time back the plan was to replace engines however, reality set in that there is no way they can have that many engines built and still support production even if it is cut back to support repairs. If the vehicles engine does seize then it gets put in line to get another one. Yes, this dealer has had some exposure to this problem. Engines are hard to come by right now.

The automotive industry is just so cutthroat this kind of thing goes on all of the time behind the scenes, and it is to hell with the customer just make sure we "CYA"! The other thing is the oil needed to use in the repair is also being allocated by GM distributors! (can be bought outside but GM frowns on Dealers doing that and they are given lower ratings which means $$$'s). Now if that does not frost your butt nothing will. I never use any OEM oil more than 500 miles in my American cars or some Japanese before I use my Signature Amsoil in gas and oil burners. The 25 Tahoe was no exception. They are not included in this ----- YET!

LOVE the Tahoe but I am just thinking about the big Lexus or Land Rover.

Extended warranties should be given to all affected vehicles to the original purchaser.

Regardless of anyone’s feelings the motors were not spec’d with the correct viscosity oil and the damage has been done.

If I filled my truck with the wrong oil and it blew up they would show me in 4K where to pound sand.
