ZR2 vs Gladiator

I’ve got a buddy who had an early 80’s cj that had a 360 in it and sitting on 35’s. We did a lot of hog hunting in the river swamps and that thing would take us wherever we wanted to go. He later built another one with a 400 in it on 44’s. That one almost cost him his life. Needless to say that ended his jeep endeavors.

the ones i looked at in northeast all had stickers over 100k about 2 years ago. was his special ordered?
Yes. He bought it through a large Jeep dealer in Louisville, KY. Cross Jeep, if I remember correctly. He was able to get it for sticker. I told him about them, they are a big AEV dealer. Of course he has over a 100 K in it now with all the modifications we've done.

Yes, my friend avoided some of those options. They come with the "T" tops already. The 392 version comes fairly well equipped as it is. I think Jeep did a better quality build on it as well. His has been problem free.

Yep--there is a reason why the Jeeps are referred to as "money pits"! Just so many ways to spend money on them! Do not ask me how I know!
I know that! I used to buy a vehicle when i was younger, before emission, BS, and the first thing I would do is pull the engine. That is if it wasn't a V8. I would install the driveline I thought it should have, including the differential gears. I thought it was fun and I built the vehicle that I wanted! Nowadays things are so much more complex. All the emission crap has to be there. Not fun! Plus nowadays it seems more expensive. Maybe it's just relative to the times, and maybe I've just gotten old! :D
