A few weeks ago, the side rear view mirror on my wife's Tahoe started to retract and deploy slowly and the motor sounds like it struggling or the gears are dry or slipping. Then yesterday I noticed my ZR2 doing the same thing. These things are in relatively clean and dry environments, but we get plenty of dust.
I am wondering if the mirrors are serviceable? Also if it's the motor or gear/track?
I had some similar on my 2005 2500HD with the extendable mirrors. I was able to clean and lube the gears and track to improve performance. Right before I sold it one of the motors went out. Did not repair that.
