2023 ZR2, bought Dec 22, 35558 miles.

Got this warning two days ago. The articles and posts I read ranged from Gear Shift Selector Module to Transmission Control Module or Battery, apparently it is a known common issue. I decided to take it to the Dealer.

In my case it turned out to be the battery. The cost was $369, tested, installed and tested again. Not bad IMO, Interstate would have cost $300 to $425 depending on which battery I chose.

FWIW, this supports my belief that batteries last 36 months in TX.

Yeah batteries ain't cheap, especially at the dealer. They barely make 2-3 years sometimes in Arizona. Just dry up in the heat. Both my Tahoe and 1500 are 3 years old. Debating about taking pre-emptive action.

I was looking at the Walmart Everstart Platinum AGMs the other day and they go for $189 for the H6 for my diesel. They have a four year warranty and get nearly 5 star reviews. About the best deal you can find.

I am coming up on 3 years so I have been looking, Wally's has an EverStart or the factory ACD for about 2 bones, which is about the same price as RockAuto. I am hopeful that trickling the battery every month or 2 so the plates don't get depleted will help with longevity, but we'll see how it works out.

Interesting that I had the dealer check my battery on my final day of warranty. I wasn't having problems, but was hoping I might get a new one. It passed the GM load test, so nothing is replaced without GM approval (they were getting a high number of warranty claims, sontest data has to be submitted).

I bought the truck February 3, 2023 and it was built August of 2022. So I figure that battery is somewhere between 3.5 and 4 years old since manufacturing. I never charge it and it sits days on end sometimes when I'm gone for work or driving my other rig. It has lived through 3 summers with many days of ambient temps well above 110F.

My wife's Tahoe is close to the same, just a few months behind. I'm pretty impressed with this particular lot of AC Delco batteries.
