Interestingly enough, the Tahoes have no antenna at all and seem to get decent reception. Not sure I've been as far in the sticks with that rig, but they haven't had antennas for years and I've never experienced any reception issues.
Oh, they have antennas, just not this kind, it is either a dipole in the windshield, a spiral wound in the shark fin, or probably a mesh in one of the rear windows, either way they do pretty good, but in theory anyway, the ones on our trucks should get a little better reception.
