Polished Up Again

Well, I decided the ZR2 needed some love after two years of dedicated service. My boy helped me wash, clay bar, polish, and ceramic coated my rig again. I try to keep it pretty clean, but it was showing a lot of pinstripes and other crap on the black paint. Took some hard work, but she looks top notch again, sans the rock chips in this soft paint.

My boy is pretty good at detailing. He always keeps his Honda Civic in good shape. He's done alot of work (tires/wheels, suspension, downpipe, exhaust, carbon bits) to his car and it's pretty fun to drive. Not big power, but it handles great. I keep telling him to sell it and buy the 1500, but he doesn't want to make payments.....lol....at least he's smart.

Good to have some young hands when your getting old and slow. Anyway we took a few pictures after we finished today.

Truck looks good. The Civic looks so small next to your truck. Your hood is higher than the Civic's roof.

You should see it next to the 2500.....LOL. it's lowered about 1.5 inches too. It makes me nervous as hell to do a lap in that Civic. That why I want him to buy the ZR2.

I've never owned a car. Occasionally I have to rent some small sedans for work, but I am clostratphobic in them. I grew up driving farm trucks, grain trucks, and tractors. They always rode big, so thats all I am comfortable with driving.

I have owned a few cars in my life. A couple Camaros and a Cutlass, but mostly trucks. Drive tri axle dump trucks and operate heavy equipment for a living, so I know the feeling of being in a small car.

Truck sounds great.

I had the wife behind me one day and told me she hardly heard no exhaust. I told her it was odd she couldnt hear a lot considering how much I could hear from the cab. Your video is the same way. You heard way more growl as you came to the filming spot and as you were passing but it dropped off as you went by. At least mine is no different but I would have always thought youd hear more from the rear.

I think they look pretty good too, but my favorite part of the rim is that they don't really seem to get very dirty and clean up well. The beadlock does trap.some water along the edges of the rim, so you need to blow it out or dry it off or it'll leave a stain.

I think those tires and wheels cost me about $3000, but sold my stockers so only about half that. Not bad for a decent setup.

I don't think you hear the exhaust much externally unless you're on the gas. It sounds more accurate if you listen to it with headphones or a speaker.

It definitely sounds better in the truck, as you get some amplification from the cab.

There were some people walking along that sidewalk, so I backed off some when I got even with camera, so I wasnt pissing people off. It sounds really good L1-L3, but you gotta be able to run up to 60 mph to get the full effect of L3.
