Paint chipping ! I’m pissed !!

I see it as people who buy an offroad vehicle built to go offroad at the risk of far worse damage and abuse then complain about paint chips. Make me wonder if they actually take their trucks offroad? Sounds like money for body shops and new paint jobs after every time they go offroad.
There's a big difference in damaging a vehicle yourself doing something you enjoy and buying anew one with factory paint defects.

Anyone have an experience with Chevy repainting or otherwise fixing this issue somehow? I have a 22 that has the typical rubbing down to metal around the hood bump and a couple of the front plastic bits where they meet the front fenders are flaking off too. I'm curious how to go about asking Chevy to fix since I don't see any active recalls or warranties on paint. I think the OP said they were open to correcting the issue?

There is a TSB out for the scoop causing damage to the paint.

Excellent, thank you for the info
Welcome. I'll be eventually taking mine in for this fix also. Just gonna wait til probably next year and buy a new scoop to go on it since mine was scratched pretty good when I purchased the truck.

Mine was a launch truck. 22.5 ordered as soon as books opened in 2021. I have some paint abrasion on my hood. You have to look close to see it. I havent had the need to have surgery yet to fix it.

That being said, it looks like that was screwed with already. Thats big time chipping. I’d be pissed for sure. But rest assured, it can be fixed. If the dealer is willing to make it right let them fix it. It’s minor stuff.

Getting a “new” hood will complicate the repair. Requiring the fenders to be blended to match the color. I wouldn’t do that if it was my own truck. Let the hood be fixed and blended within the panel. Just giving advice from someone who is in the body business.

Hope it all works out for you.

Agree 100%. Just want them to fix the area. Dont screw with any other panels. The paint will never be as good as factory. Especially not these days.

I would disagree with that. What we use is better than factory. Has to be. Lifetime refinish. You don’t get 2 coats of clear from GM.

That being said, layering paint has its Downfalls. It adds to a point of failure. Not to mention the effect when you get a chip down the line. Like anything in life, the less you screw with shit the better. Fix what you have to and limit what else you need to.

A repair like the OP’s will isolate the primer, sealer and base coat to an area of the vehicle that will rarely get in impact. The outside area of the panel will just be scuffed and re-cleared. Which honestly, as cheap as the paint is on these vehicles is a godsend for protection.
