Since we are now switching to 0W40 oil per the GM 6.2L recall, I decided to benchmark my oil pressure using a digital guage from the Torque Pro app using OBD II Bluetooth dongle.
I understand this guage is just reporting the information the ECUnis receiving, so there is always a chance of discrepancy with the idiot guage in the DIC if they were not in sync for some reason.
For the most part, this Torque Pro guage would show oil pressure similar to the estimates I made looking at the idiot guage.
Anyway here's what I was seeing after a few minutes of warm up time at idle With the 0W20 Mobil 1 Dexos oil I have in my 1500 ZR2.
35-45+ psi at idle 600 rpm (higher at start up/lower after warm up)
45-60 psi at 1000-2500 rpm
60-65+ psi 2500-3500 rpm
I also seen some spikes up to 80 psi when I was revving or accelerating to get from 2000 rpm to 3500 rpms, but it would settle down quickly.
Anyway, this seems normal from my experience with GM motors, but I do not know the exact GM specs.
Also, no main crank or rod bearings were harmed during this test.......allegedly!
