LOL.............I wouldn't dare shoot a paintball gun at this thin sheet metal. Tap on your rear quarter panel between the tire and the cab and watch the shimmy. It's a lot worse on the 2500HD since the bed is longer there.

had a snapped recovery rope whip my truck- the shockwave created a dozen or so dents across the entire tailgate nowhere near the actual impact

That brings up a serious topic of recoveries and the right gear and technique. If you all haven't seen this, look it up. This man died because someone that wanted to help did it way wrong and it was costly. Please invest in gear that will handle the load and don't use a hitch ball receiver to do it. Get the right shackles, hitch mount, strap or kinetic rope and understand how to do it. Don't mean to lecture but would hate to hear of another needless death. This ball hitch broke because it was a drop down type, snapped back and went through the windshield. Look at where the truck was stuck, mud, even more of a load to pull out. They also make a canvas rug type panel you velcro around the strap to stop the snapping back if it breaks. God bless

That truck wasn't coming out with that setup or a likeky a single tow rig. That type of mud with water has so much suction it's hard to move.

I've switched over to shoft shackles in place of d rings. They are easier to use and store. You can get a tow strap, kinetic rope, and soft shackles for $300. Less if you run the knock off versions. They all look pretty good to me. Project Farm did a test on Youtube about them and there's some good data to help you with your choice. I run Bubba Ropes!

100% valid point to bring up. I got banned from commenting on Matt's offroad recoveries a few years back for calling him out on his sketchy practices lol.

My snap situation was completely avoidable. Ropes were setup when I arrived. The guy who set em up had alot of offroad experience, so I didnt check out the setup like I usually would. 5th attempt the equalizer strap attaching the kinetic rope to his truck snapped. Thankful I told his buddy to stand well clear prior to 1st recovery. Turns out the equalizer strap not only had a knot in it, but was frayed and torn. Got lucky and learnt a lesson that only cost $.

Never trust your safety to others. Always inspect a setup or situation yourself, Always used appropriately rated gear, keep all bystanders well clear, when using kinetic use gear rate it for the lightest vehicle in the recovery- soft shackles are definitely a good idea too.
I've also done recoveries with the hood open a few times to act as a shield incase something breaks or snaps.
