Nitto Recon Grapplers (SL)

My only real “concern” and follow up question to you both is how is the handling?

A 295/70 has some pretty substantial sidewalls. It of course will “Ride better” (softer would be a less subjective word for that.)

I’m curious how that translates to handling at highway or near highway speeds. I can feel the sidewalk flex and “wandering” on the stock tires at speed. Curious how a 4-ply (albeit with a higher weight cap) would translate to steering feel especially on center.
I don't notice any of the sidewall flex on my 295s, however I don't think they ride as nice as stockers, but not by much. I think you get less flex partly cause you have a wider contact patch, so it won't rotate and lean as much.

One thing I experienced was the tires wanted to wander a bit on different pavement types at speeds above 60mph. I finally had the dealer check the alignment. It was in spec, however the dealer did tweak it some and it really tracks nicely now. Did that before my long trip and the truck handled every type of pavment and off road terrain you could throw at it.

You also ran E range tires correct? I know those would flex substantially less than the C range stockers. But with a weight penalty.

That question is mainly directed at the P metric’s with the same sidewall height.

An alignment adjustment would definitely help these trucks at speed. A little more toe-in would help straight line stability.

Yeah and my wheels are slightly wider at 9 inches. I primarily responded because I think the wider track width reduces potential for flex as it distributes load better.

Everybody will feel something different. I think you just have to run it and see. I think you'll be happy.
