NHTSA 6.2L Motor Failure Inquiry

It has been proven that even a DFM delete device like the RANGE will not solve this issue. The lifters are bad regardless of whether they go into DFM mode or not. It's only a matter of time before the part(s) fail. Unless you replace all of the lifters and bearings with aftermarket (which does exist and has been posted - not cheap), you will be a statistic...just a matter of time which is very unfortunate and sad in 2025 when this could easily be prevented by solid engineering 😥

My 22 blew up with just under 7000km
Damn! I have been wanting to take a trip to So-Cal
from Missouri. My truck has 3970mi on the ticking time bomb under the hood. I am scared of getting STUCK in the middle of the desert during a heat wave. I can't predict the weather, but with my luck, that is exactly the way it would happen. I wish I had my old 318 Dodge Ram. When I moved out here
I crossed the Arizona desert during a heat wave. With just over 100,000mi on it did not miss a beat
even towing my other car and trailer behind it. I was moving out here so I had everything I owned with me. combined weight was roughly 6000lbs.
That little 318 just kept on running up over the grades, in the heat with the A/C on. The rear end gave out as I was pulling off the highway. Here at the new location. And it still limped into the dealer in Springfield a day later. I can't even count on the new POS to make the trip.

Even with a new engine, there is no guarantee that it will not fail. I am looking for a new truck to replace this low mileage beauty of mine. Just to have peace of mind. What I have found so far tells me that all the major mfg. Are having engine issues. Maybe a diesel Hummer or Mercedes. I will have to check them out further.

traded mine on the 3.0 baby max. so far i love it, but only 2200 miles in and one never knows. at this point, it seems like a person is playing russian roulette with whatever choice of truck you go with. spin that cylinder and pull the trigger!!

Not sure we've run long enough tests on that to be sure. I can tell you that I've personally seen AFM rigs run 10 years and 150k miles without issue. DFM is supposed to be better than AFM. We're gonna know how this all plays out in about 2032. By then most people will probably be on to another rig or two anyways.
