Hello,

Looking for insight on those who have went away from the stock multimatic shocks on the ZR2 1500's.

Mine are completely clapped out after 50k miles of non-highway/easy commute.

I've reached out to the following supplier and have had the same response or unwilling to assist in an aftermarket alternative.

Icon:
"Due to the different geometry setups on the ZR2 platform, ICON has no offerings for this platform"

King:
Communicated they do not have a suitable replacement

Fox:
Looking at the 2.5 /3.0
Response: "Fox does not have options for the 2022 Silverado 1500 ZR2."

Accutune:
Communited they carry nothing that will work

Dirt King:
Product offered but multiple lead time delays

Multimatic:
Response: "The dampers that came stock on your Silverado ZR2 truck are not serviceable and cannot be sent somewhere for a rebuild / refresh with new seals / shock oil."

Shock surplus:
States they know the Fox 3.0 fit but Fox says otherwise.

Bilstein:
Response: "I am sorry to report that we currently do not offer any direct fit replacements for your 2022 Silverado ZR2"

Any information would be appreciated.

Sounds like you’ve done an exhaustive search. The Multimatic response is very disappointing. I’ve got to believe that some portion of the shock such as the body has to be reusable. I don’t understand today’s world because some people are screaming about the planet and yet we have engineers that cannot design in rebuild-ability in wearable components such as shocks. Curious if you’ve costed out replacements from GM even though I know you are soured on the Multimatics?

My local dealer gave me an estimate north of 4k (including labor) for replacing both front shocks.

Hard to justify putting the same stock shocks on at that price when they're only good for roughly 30k miles.

I've sold all the above mentioned and none of them have a cycle life greater than 30k
I've even invested in the rebuilding of all
Including oil and charge!
Multi Matic is the only one I don't service.
The GM shock is a great street to mild off road control device , But not made to pound them hard.. Check Rock Auto for lesser cost replacement.. The dealer is gonna get ya!

You might want to see if anyone has a 2-4 inch lift for the TB and then see if the mounts are the same. You may be able to find a kit that works for less $ than the Multimatic.

There are people on this site that have ditched their Multimatic shocks and are running 4-6 inch King and BDS lifts. Maybe they still have their stock shocks.

Most shocks are shot between 30-40k miles regardless of price. Most people run them too long and don't realize how much ride quality has suffered.

Have you checked out Peak suspension?
I'd do that before a new set of Multimatics, especially if the shock can be rebuilt. The adjustable compression and rebound should get you a quality ride. Fuck these French Canadian Multimatic fucks and their non rebuildable billet aluminum bullshit shocks.

If Canada becomes a state, will the price come down? Asking for a friend, he also has a ZR2. 😂

The only part that gets statehood is Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba cause they think like middle America. The east and west sides will just be territories like Guam and Puerto Rico.......they'll work for minimum wage building trucks and shocks at the Ottowa plant.
