I think most people doing the level Kits for the ZR2 are using aftermarket UCAs too. I thought this article about the issues with the Trailboss may be applicable to the ZR2 just the same. Safety should always be a priority when modifying your rigs, so proceed with caution.

Cannot stress this enough. If you level these trucks without fixing the geometry of the UBJ you will rip the wheel off.

I have fixed 3 trucks already with the 2”+ puck kits. It is absolutely horrible what it does to the body and frame. 2 of out 3 needed a frame afterwards.

Also keep in mind when you level, you really screw with suspension geometry. You lose compression and you over extend the struts on rebound.

Be informed guys.

So what about reputable brands? I have the Peak 2.25 on my 23 ZR2 and my son has the Readylift level kit on his 21 Trail Boss?

I have read, If you even do just a leveling lift It is still good practice to replace upper control arms.

Regarding the article that @AXE posted, seems like that truck had way more than just a leveling lift. The upper control arms that come with the ZR2 are different than any of the other Silverados. None of the trail bosses have the same upper control arms as the ZR2. It's a small part of the upgrade package but an important one. There was an article posted here about that same exact subject on whether or not the upper control arms were different between the different trims.

I have done plenty of scrubbing and mild bending along with a few deep gouges on the underside, but I don't intend to do much in the manner of lifting this truck. I plan to do a leveling lift when I put a new front bumper and winch on, other than that I don't rock crawl very much and am very happy with the way the current suspension performs for what I do.
