Dash Cam and Radar Detector Installation

I have a 2023 Silverado I am looking to install a Blackvue B-130X battery in. I have been having trouble locating a good fuse to tap into for the battery. Could you give me some advice?
Fuse 26 in the passenger side fuse box is switched power for the USB. If you don’t need constant power (hot 24/7) that’s an easy place to tap into with a fuse tap.

Just installed my gen5diy adapter today. It’s a very high quality plug and was super easy to install. I’m very happy with it so far!
Hello.
Can you answer a dumb question of how do you undo the wiring harness with the red clip?
Have the adapter but yet to figure out how to get the dang plug apart!
Thanks in advance.

From what I remember I used a small flathead and carefully popped the clip on the plug.

Greetings - after being a RAM owner since 2005, I came back to the dark side and am happy to be driving a 2024 ZR2. I am also needing assistance with both a switched and constant fuse location for my dash cam install. It appears that all locations in both interior panels are showing hot with the key off - what am I missing?

There was a discussion on this and pics of the fuse box to grab accessory and battery power on the passenger side. Try a search on the forum and see if you can pull it up.

Do you know what wires I can tap into for my radar detector on the 24. I have the mirror taps from my previous truck that should work?

I do not use mirror taps as I don't care for them. I hard wire everything professionally to the passengers side fuse panel using fuse taps.
I don’t add electronics often, but I do the same. Call it old school, cleaner, hell call it anal retentive. But I can also say I’ve never had problems post install by tapping and hoping that run can take the load.

Hi. I am trying to do the same with my ZR2. Sold the RAM as well. Did you get any luck on installing your dash cam in the fuse box?

Any luck on the dash cam installation? How did you do it?

Per post #45 by securityguy, I searched dash cam in the forum and found his pics of the passenger side fusebox. His recommendations for both switched and constant power were correct. You will need a triple tap for the switched power location ( I ordered off Amazon). I have the Viofo A129 3 channel setup and it works great, including the G parking sensor and motion sensor.

Easy peasy!

The_Q

Question, Fuse 26 (USB charge) is a 10amp fuse. You posted a link to a fuse tap with a 5amp. Wouldn't lowering the amp of the fuse decrease efficiency when using the USB charger in the vehicle? Shouldn't you get a fuse tap with a 10amp to maintain same efficiency of charger? Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Universal-Circuit-Adapter-Micro3/dp/B0CJCH3ZVV/ref=sr_1_3

You take the 10 amp fuse from the fuse box and put it in the bottom fuse slot of the tap. The 5 amp goes in the top slot for whatever you’re powering. If you want to swap the 5 amp out for a 10 amp, that is possible too.

Got it so you're using the fuse that's already in the power slot and just discarding the fuse that comes with the Amazon part. So what it comes with really doesn't matter.

Not exactly. Two fuses get installed in the tap. The one that you took out of the fuse panel which gets plugged into the main slot on the tap and a 3A-5A fuse (recommended) that gets installed into the accessory portion of the tap.
