Pretty good little towing test performed by TFL Trucks. About what you'd expect, so interesting confirmation on towing lighter trailers. I think the mileage is a little better on the 2500HD when it breaks in, but it won't be significantly higher.

AT4X looks better in the 1500 Bison trim. That TrailBoss is a nice looking truck and offers a lot of value.

I like the videos this guy does....But don't agree that these trailers are the same, not with that barn door bubble on top of one of them. I agree with you (based on personal experience) that MPG of the 6.6 will improve a few points once it's broke in.

On my 2500HD, it was like a switch was flippped around 1500-1600 miles. It seemed like mine suddenly went from 13-14 mpg to 16.5 mpg in normal mixed driving conditions. I believe there was something purposely placed in the ECM programming that made this change.

I've done about 3000 miles of towing in 9000 miles on the clock. It does not get very good mileage towing, whether it's 4-5k lbs at 10-12 mpg or 10-12k at 8-10 mpg. I'm assuming it won't get much better, as I'm not a believer in long "break in" periods. It's a big ass heavy truck with tall profile and huge open grill. Lots of drag underneath the chassis too. That's one reason alone the 1500 will always get better mileage.
