I blew up to Dakota in gawd damned mini van with my hunting dog. Gonna do some bird hunting and get some work done. In a couple weeks, I'm gonna tow my camper back with my rig as it's been here all summer.

The trip up was pretty boring and uneventful. Just 24 hours of seat time.

When I blew into the county, there was a wildfire raging that burned 90k acres in less than 24 hours. A few lives lost, many cattle burned, lots of property torched. The fields and pastures will be fine again by April, as they will regrow with vigor. The buildings and fences and power poles will need to be replaced. Here's a few pictures south of our farm, we were not affected directly.

Found these pheasants in the middle of the burned area, hardly anything left for ground cover and they were just raining about.

I walked my dog around a water impounded filled with ash, it had a about 100 square feet of grass along one edge. She found three partridge in that grass. I have no idea if these birds survived the fire or fled and came back.

Later brown dog played in the water pit and then went to bed early.

Finally got around to doing some work. We're constructing another storage building, so we poured this concrete foundation. We built the pad, but hired the concrete crew, cause it was a big pour. Turned out pretty nice. We started to do some finish grading and had a lot of fill work on the west side. Had to haul in some fill and topsoil, so put the Dmax to work.

I was anticipating cool pics of the van. Now I won't be able to function all day
LOL......I took that grocery getter off road a few times to let my dog excercise. I got on one stretch of Forest Service road that was pretty rutted out but needed to get further in. I forgot I wasn't in the ZR2 and only had 3 inches of clearance. I bottomed a couple of times and about 150 miles later when filling up gas, I noticed I had some shit hanging down below the side doors. I ended up cutting off about 1 foot of that heavy wool fiber material from each side. You couldn't see it after I cut it out tho.

I can confirm firm they are not made for offroad use.

Noted. . . Lmao. Is it a rental?

I went up a trail in the HC and ripped the front platic on the retractable step forgetting what I was in lol

My other boy flew up from Phoenix for hunting and a little time. He really misses his brother, I think the other one does too, but he won't admit it........ they are twins and this part year is the only time they've ever been apart.

They rode dirt bikes and messed around at the farm today. Hung out with their grandparents some.

Gonna get some work out of them tomorrow.

Found a pile of pheasants today. Gonna be a good opening day on Saturday.

Had some pretty solid northern lights tonight. The pictures exaggerate the intensity of the color in town with the street lights. Outside town, this color is much better.

Had my ol man's buggy out scouting some more bird hunting grounds today. Finding big old fat roosters everywhere.

Then the boys dialed up some fire power and did some target shooting. We were hitting 1 gallon and 2.5 gallon jugs off hand at 100 yards. Pretty fun with this 10 mm subgun and .357 lever action.

A guy that did some work for us this summer was out hunting moose by our farm with his grandpa. His grandpa had gotten drawn for a rare bull moose tag. My Dad had told him where they were hanging out over the summer and he harvested this nice bull.

I found this young bull Moose dead in one of our water impoundments. Not sure if he was a victim of the fire or something else.

@AXE how about some details on tje 10mm sub gun?
It's a CMMG Banshee 300. They've been around several years now. It's a great platform for 10 mm. I got an Eotech XP2 optic and back up iron sights. I have another one I only have Iron sights on. Wanted to keep it as light and compact as possible.

I can push 1500-1600 fps through that 8 inch barrel. It shoots really nice supressed too. You can hit 6 inch plates at 300 yards surprisingly.

Thanks, I love the 10mm.

Yep, it's a fun round. I like 10mm and .357 magnum the best, both very versatile rounds. I reload them, so it's not as expensive to shoot for plinking.

Also, I got an Elftmann trigger on it. I put them on ask my ARs, make them very easy to adjust and shoot accurately.

We had a pretty good weekend of bird hunting. Blasted some pheasants, partridge, and ducks. Boys had fun and dog worked hard.
