This past Halloween, I was parked on a corner and a guy turning right in front of my truck hit his right side rear door on the driver side outside edge of my AEV bumper. His BMW had a 3" dent in it. My bumper had barely a scratch in the plastic coating. No deformation or anything else. I think it held up well.

I've pulled some of the plastic off for installation of the lights. Also removed the skids for maintenance. They are a very heavy steel and lots of molded angles and bracing to make them very durable. That's one of the reasons there are so many pieces of plastic on the bumpers covering up the hardware and welds..

The past couple days I’ve had an appreciation for the AEV bumpers. I replaced the factory fog lights with Diode Dynamics SC1 Bison kit. I did not have to take off the fender lining, bumper or grill like all of the YT videos show. That is a pain in the rear, not to mention the plastic parts that are easily damaged.

The Bison bumper allows underneath installation, just drop two plastic end pieces and the skid plate. Easy access to everything behind the bumper.
