It's actually roto molded plastic. Made from the same stuff kayaks are made from.

If it is not your thing, than don't buy it, but snorkels do have a purpose. It is a raised air intake to get cooler cleaner air. Same thing bulldozers and backhoes have to provide a longer service life for the air filters since they operate in dusty and dirty environments. The same thing you encounter when offroad.

I will admit I find a lot of AEVs stuff to be overpriced, but their quality and engineering has always been top notch. They half ass their Jeep suspension setups and price them like real overhauls.

The one thing I won’t admit is that in recent years manufacturers have made up a new idea that snorkels help with dust. The original military jeeps had a snorkel kit available (intake and exhaust) for water fording. Even safari snorkel (now owned by ARB) was purely for water for years.

I did get it. For me where I live in bfe and traveling in it a good amount ive found it useful. Mpg did go up by 2 on highway. I do camp and travel the ozarks seeing it's an hr away. The i guess depends on what you do and how you wonna go.

What was your mileage before and after snorkel? What was the average speed traveled when calculated?

Not to disagree it's silly looking and I've had to move pillar lights due to its size. My usual travel speed is around 70-75.
I'm also packed with gear (rack, a wind catching softtopper, recovery pads). Live in southern missouri to give geo ref.

Now do have to say that last week I put on a short oil filter. Funny enough my deisel uses a gas oil filter. I drive for 3 hrs a day for work and last week it has hung around 16.5-.8mpg.

I'm all for doing the mods you want on your vehicle. I think it looks good on the HD. If your running in water crossings, all the better.

That's why I was asking, about mileage, Not sure what your overall mileage is at, but mileage gets better after about 2k miles. I couldn't get 12 mpg for awhile, then 14 mpg, then finally settled in at about 16.5 mpg for normal mixed driving. I get can over 18 mpg if I keep it under 70 mph, but anything close to 75+ and it drops right now.
