The truck has been rock solid since day 1. My son had his Christmas Break so we decided to head out into the US of A and see some states he hadn't yet seen.
He gets the crazy idea to drive to Texas and I warn him it will quite possibly be one of the ugliest drives we'll ever take (no offense to anyone here but traveling east from Socal through Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas is an endless, near featureless landscape that's about a 12 hour shot to Las Cruces for the night, then into New Braunfels for another 7 or so after that.
We then drove up to Dallas, through Oklahoma, the panhandle, back through northern New Mexico and into Denver. Then finished the trip with a stay in Moab, including a little jaunt along the Colorado over frozen ruts that I thought would tear the truck apart, then Vegas, and finally... home.
Truck ran perfectly the whole way. The route shown was the original planned route but we added some miles here in there to cross into Oklahoma and take some scenic detours.
The very next day, my wife gets in the truck to take my daughter to work and within 5 minutes of leaving, I get the call that error messages abound.
The truck was bucking and reducing power to the engine, and there was significant rattling under the rear of the truck.
Dropped it off at the dealer and just got the call from my SA that it was a bad injector, harness or both, so they replaced them and the interesting thing is that they will be replacing my leaf springs!
I haven't done a search but I suspect this hasn't happened very often. The frozen ground was incredibly hard and yes the ruts rattled my teeth, but I felt no serious impacts that would do significant damage. It must've been the rapid, vicious shaking from the ruts that did them in I guess. Any ideas?

Next time go through central Arizona and New Mexico. Also drop down from Moab into Navojo Nation into Flagstaff and that small wonder known as the Grand Canyon. Lots of great scenery, National Monuments, National Parks, forests, etc to see.

LOL I thrive in the areas you have disparaging comments about. Love Texas and NM you may need to get a ZR2. ;)

mine has the rattle in the rear end which started at around 400 miles, give or take. It at around 1300 miles now. i did a little research and found it was likely the leaf springs, i just haven't had time to get it to a dealer (closest one is around an hour's drive away). so, apparently that's a common issue. as for your other issue, first i've heard of that one.

I love all those places. I'm not talking about areas of interest (I've been to those areas you mentioned and love them) I'm talking about the 10 freeway and expanses of scrub brush and dirt. Please, I think we can all agree there are miles and miles of endless drab. But I needed to get out there as quick as I could so sightseeing wasn't on the menu.

I wasn't meaning to offend, but I think you already know that, lol. I was specifically referencing stretches of the 10.
Another one? We'll, if you insist.

I'll find out what exactly what was wrong with the leaf springs because it was a rattle and then some! Sounded pretty bad.
That's why I posted, I hadn't heard much about the injector/harness issue.

Congrats on the “long” drive with your son, that’s a priceless memory!
I live near Dallas and just completed a trip out to San Diego. Will be out here for a month.
Lol, and I agree with you 10 can be a beat down, especially when you get on 20 and drive through west Texas. But being a native Texan and have made this trip many, many times I’ve grown used to it and appreciate it for what it is. But there’s no question that driving up 1 is incredibly more scenic. If you and your son take another drive through Texas spend a couple of days in Big Bend, you won’t be disappointed.
I have a 2024 ZR2 Bison 3.0 and “so far” after 13,000 miles it has been flawless.

That said, I think you’re right that your washboard drive might have caused the issues. I haven’t driven on anything that bad so who knows, if I do I may end up with the same issue. Thanks for sharing your story.
