I ordered a 2025 HD Duramax Bison 1 month ago with the Dark Essential package. Long story short, dealer called me and said it's on a nationwide constraint until further notice. However, he could push the order through IF I take that option off - he said that it's a dealer installed (not factory installed) option regardless and will have the badges (black ZR2 fender badge and black ZR2 bade on the grill vs. chrome) installed for FREE because they are available from the Parts Depot warehouse (GM Parts). Doors on the Bison and ZR2 badge on the tailgate come black from the factory (from what I can tell per the build website side by side comparison Bison with dark essential package and without), at least what I can tell from the build site pics. Does anyone know if the Dark Essential package is indeed dealer installed per my dealer VS factory installed or is he pulling my leg? Would be nice to save $550 but don't want some bush-league BS process used to remove the chrome emblems and replaced with the black dark essentials badging etc.

Badges are super easy to remove. I do it all the time. All it takes is a piece of dental floss your if your more experienced a pick to lift up the edge of the badge. They come up pretty easy. Use goo be gone to get rid of the glue backing before applying new badge.

They are dealer installed, mine was delayed 7 weeks after I took possession of the vehicle I had them mail them to me instead, and they are straight forward. Have the tape on the back, just stick em where you want em.
I say take the freebie.

I just changed mine myself. Cost was less then have of the Dark Essential package. It's not hard to do. Honestly I'd be a little worried about the dealership doing it. I'm sure they have guys that could do a great job. But something tells me low man on the totem pole would be tasked with the job. Sort of like the skilled mechanics aren't doing fluid changes. I doubt the experienced body shop guy is swapping badges, lol. I'm just guessing though.
