I know a lot of folks use Amp for their powered running boards but has anyone tried the Boost Auto ones? The link is below. I was looking around and found these and they seemed pretty nice. If you have used them, what are your thoughts; good, bad, or ugly.

I’ve seen those also. Just thought the boost ones looked nice also. Are most running the RC ones?

Looks like you add magnetic sensors to open and close the steps? Seems a bit odd.
The AMP and the RC requires magnets I believe. I watched a few videos on the BA steps and, I agree, they look very nice and robust and don't require the magnets. The lighting options are pretty cool too. I think if I was going to buy steps today, I would buy the BA steps.

For someone on a tight budget, the RC steps are very nice.
I cant say I have the budget for either right now. However, I am willing to wait to get what I want. Sometime next year I'll probably get the boards. Ive only owned the truck for two months and probably already spent over $5K on it. Along with that, I may actually get the extended warranty next year too.

The AMP steps run off wires spliced into the BCM harness and also a plug-in to the OBD II port. Wiring is not "plug n play", but they work well.

This lights seem.like a maintenance issue sitting in that location. I don't care for the looks either, seem to sit up higher on the rocker panel.

Looking at both the RC and the BA, they both seem to stop at the same point. I think the BA are thicker and a different angle though.

What do you mean by a maintenance issue? As in a rock or something taking them out or simple failure?
Granted, I didnt think about what would happen if one did fail and the other didnt. My OCD would go nuts. LOL

Do the RC/AMP ones stay open if you step on them like the BA?

Yes, the AMPS stay open and you can add a separate switch to control deployment so they don't open in low clearance terrain.

Lights are exposed to a lot of water, snow; mud, debris, etc in that area.

Hmm. Definitely food for thought.

Don't think I'd have any concerns about the lighting. They are epoxy sealed and fully weather proof. Could they get damaged on the rocks? Maybe. But, if you don't take the truck out on rocky trails, it should be a non-issue. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy the lighted steps.

I did the AMP Xtreme power running boards. As someone else mentioned you splice them into existing wiring by the foot pedals. I like the idea of four motors instead of the two on the standard AMP model. I did not install the lights that were included as I wasn’t a fan of drilling into the pinch weld.

I've had every type of LED light for every application known to man. Eventually they fail. I've already lost two on my AMP steps and they aint even a year old. People think LEDs are so great, but they ain'tuch more reliable in my opinion, just more expensive.

Funny thing is I have equipment at the farm from the 40s and 50s and the lights still work. Their ain't a LED made that will endure 75 years, cause the board will fail if the light doesn't.
