This isn't an issue with the truck paint, it's an issue with white spray paint on my black truck paint.

Ironically, I was on my way to the car wash to wash my truck. I hit a gawd damned full can of commercial grade white spray paint laying in the road that some asshole contractor forgot to put away properly.

This shit appears to have chemically bonded in on the clear coat or ceramic and the pressure washer wouldn't take it off the paint, trim, tire, or the AMP step.

I got home and tried a couple of pads and some Chemical Guys compound. The only one that worked was a heavier cutting compound with a heavy yellow cutting pad. It took quite a bit of time to remove any of the paint, but did come off. I didn't dare do much cause I'm worried about the clear coat getting too thin.

Is there any thing I can apply to the white spray paint that will soften it some but not damage the clear coat? I would rather attempt that before I spend hours and burn through the clear.

Maybe @wutang61 had some magic elixir. Any suggestions are appreciated!

This is the compound and polish I have on hand. Seems to work fine on everthing else. I also use the MeGuires stiff and like it too.

Got every color pad and DeWalt DA polisher that works well too.

I tested the V34 and yellow pad and it did work. Could go up to the V32 compound. Softer pad did not seem to work well.

Here's the test area in rear post of quarter panel and taillight. Taillight can of easier. Clear and plastic did look good even without a polish.

I had a DIY ceramic coating in it, so maybe that helped some.

Ouch! That hurts looking at it! Yeah That would definitely ruin anyone's day.
I couldn't believe it. I didn't even see it when I got to the car wash and exited the vehicle. Started on the other side of truck where the wash wand was located. Started seeing it as i worked my way from front to back and thought WTF happened.

Followed the road home and found the can at an intersection. I am usually pretty good at missing shit in the road, but it was a 3 way stop and I was watching other cars, so must have been distracted. Sure as helll never felt it or heard it either.

Man oh man so sorry to hear!!!
Your ceramic coat saved the paint job! That paint is not bonded to your clear coat it's bonded to your ceramic coat. You will most likely have to burn off your ceramic coat and do a decontamination and then reapply your ceramic coat. Worst comes to worst file an insurance claim.

You can always try laquer thinner on a small spot. When I had that ceramic tire crap stain my paint, my body guy said factory paid is baked and small amounts of laquer thinner are ok, as long as you wash it right after and apply wax to the area. Totally sucks that happened.

Damn that hurts to see man.

If it doesnt come off, even though its a double whammy of suck, would insurance cover fixing it?

Yep, I did a little search and I see a lot of people saying lacquer thinner and even acetone are safe for urethane based car paint. I'm worried about smearing it and getting it to interact with ceramic coating or clear coat.

Don't want to use it on plastic trim or the powder coated AMP step. That step is a textured paint and is going to be a bitch to buff.

I seen one guy say carnuba wax works well, especially if it had a wax base coat.

I tried my go to orange cleaner, which I use on bugs and tar and it didn't do shit.

I bought some McGuires carnuba wax and it did take it off slowly with a black pad on the DA. Gonna leave some on overnight and see if it loosens up better. May use this on the Bison sticker and taillight. Holy shit does that carnuba smell good and shine that black paint right up.

Also bought some lacquer thinner and acetone, cause I couldn't find any in my stash. Both worked really well on paint and plastic. Tested in areas you can't see and will check again in the morning to make sure it did no affect surfaces. This would make this less than 1 hour to clean up polish and ceramic.

Before this CF, my boy helped me clay bar the roof and hood of my wife's rig. The rest was really clean. We used this Turtle Wax ceramic spray and it works really well for $18 and a couple hours. Project Farm tested a bunch of these DIY coating and this one performed well. I've used it for a couple years and it holds up well. About to do my yearly application on the 1500 and 2500HD ZR2s.

This Chemical Guys clay block is the shit, it is easier to grip, glides easy, and cleans better. Srew that silly putty shit.

Did you try any regular claybar and the luber? My wife's car got paint splatter on it a while back and that worked well. The synthetic claybar sponge didn't work.

Was a pearl white car with green rustolem paint splatter all over the front, lol. I used medium duty clay bar and luber spray. Worked well.

Damn dude so sorry I know this ruined your day and you’ll be grinding on this until it’s back to new. Can’t believe how much that shit sprayed all over. If anyone can get this back to normal it will be you.
