How Does GM’s Duramax V8 L5P Engine Stack Up To The Competition?

I've never towed with a Ford, so I can't compare. I've towed plenty with a Ram and now the L5P Duramax, including trailers over 13k. This L5P is a great motor and tows great and the transmission is really matched well. This thing always seems to be in the right gear and it comes up to speed easily. Engine braking is better than the past, but still not as pure as a pac brake. I would like to have another +50 HP, but it isn't lacking much. Very nice package in my opinion.

The torque and power delivery on the Ram's comes on differently and I really like the linear full throated power/torque in that Cummins motor. Engine braking is superb and I can't wait to get on the brakes to hear that beast rev when the brake kicks in and you haul it down.

I second what AXE is saying. Never towed or hauled with a Ford, but the Duramax hauls my groceries very well and never feels like I'm wanting for more power.
