I decided to take a mid week run to the Imperial Sand dunes in SO Cal near Glamis! There were some high winds this weekend, so decided to wait a few days.

Lots of Virgin sand, but it's pretty quiet. So not much entertainment from other rigs.

Pretty awesome views up top! Incredible to see so much sand. God is great and left up with some great natural wonders! Great to be out here with one of my boys and dog!

I blew a belt yesterday afternoon. I didn’t have my secondary clutch sheave tool with me to chage the belt. So I had to flag this guy down for a ride back to camp to get a tool.

This guy was in early 70s and owned all these rigs. Holy shit did this thing fly and he drove like a wildman.

If you think the ZR2 suspension is awesome, there's no comparison with the sand cars. We went through some 3 foot whoops about 60 mph.

Had to run to El Centeo for a belt!

Seen this Ironman Ivan Stewart race truck on display! Pretty sweet!

Doesn't seem common for a can am to blow a belt.
You have a belt temp gauge?
Glamis can be tough on any belt

Yeah sand eats HP. You got to stay on the gas hard to run the bowls and hilly areas. I have a temp guage, but sometimes it just jumps from 200 to 240 right now. I like to keep it below 215. I had just did a few hard pulls and while I wasn't running hard the damage was cumulative.

I run an STM clutch and that helps but it doesn't like BRP belts, only Gates or Trinity heavy belts.

The new rigs are much better, a lot more HP and belts are thicker. Only cost $55k for on of these Can AM Funco conversions!
